A couple of bottom half teams went big this week in Round 6 of Division III action as the ladder constricted into a real mid-table logjam. Port Fever haven’t put the frighteners on too many this season but last weekend they were dazzling to top score in the league and put the kibosh on Chicken Twisties’ short-lived comeback efforts. True North have struggled all season but rolled out the large weapons to sink fellow straggler Golden Fleece in what could be a big result when it comes to relegation time. Killer Wombats and Crow Call also went big and the match of the round featured a big win by Wizards Sleeves who got the best of Greedy Guns in a high scoring encounter. Trotters got 1900 and a massive percentage boost as The Willys had a mare. The size of flogging ensured that the Trotters now head the table after six weeks.

Division III is hardly flying this year and the majority of the teams in the league underperformed. A couple that didn’t were Piglet Shield teams Trotters and Wizard’s Sleeves who racked up a decent score and both are looking pretty flash inside the top four at the moment with the Trotters leading the way. Mid-table Skehan and Crow Call showed they might be suited for higher honours with a very tidy display but several winners on the weekend scored bugger all and managed to salute. Blight and Hawkers went ok and look legitimate top eight sides but there’s a few genuine stragglers starting to emerge here. Funnily enough, big scoring Hand Solo is one of them and the predicted emergence of Pigs Arsenal and Chicken Twisties has failed to come to pass.

Hardly flying in terms of setting a track record but there's two emerging groups. Only a game and percentage separates positions 1-5 and also 6-15...so there's healthy competition for both top 4 and top 8 - the breakaway and the peloton. As a relatively newly promoted side, I'm taking inspiration from the rise of Luton Town.

Greedy Guns is the thorn amongst the Roses as the Guns and ladies Trotters and Cathy’s Cream have skipped away from the rest of the competition at the halfway point of the season. Stragglers Pigs Arsenal was the scoring star of the round but while they sit fourth on the scoring table they sit an unflattering 17th on the ladder (ffs). The reverse Pigs is Willys Rolly who are last in scoring but are somehow in the eight! Figure that one out. Nothing makes me mad. All the teams with at least three wins would give themselves a chance of finals action but the bottom two will be concentrating on avoiding relegation at this stage. Surprisingly, former Premier League coach Chicken Twisties is one of those teams. I’m not pumping my mob up or Twisties again as we play each other this week anyway.

The Trotters showed who was boss when they won their top of the table clash against Cathy’s Cream. Cath’s mob carded a credible score but still fell well short of Trotters who topped the league with an authoritative 2428 which consolidated their place at the top of the table. The news was not so good this week for Greedy Guns who copped the brunt of a solid performance by Kings Cobwebs who can be a devastating team on their day, which was apparently last week. Such was the nature of Greedy’s defeat that Cathy’s Cream rose to the top despite their loss to Trotters. Other top eight sides who tucked in were Wizards Sleeves who have overcome a slight slump and former Hogg winner Killer Wombats who snaffled a spot in the four as the Hawkers were scruffed by The Cats. Stragglers Pigs Arsenal, DREAMTEAM and last ranked Persh FC had their day but not Chicken Twisties whose mystifying shit season continued on in the same vein.

My lad made a comeback to SC this year and stuffed his initial squad. He's ranked about 15th in Divvy V despite scoring well recently. The first squad makes or breaks your year. I've gone bad enough as I had EVERY cheap rookie that got hurt this year. Avoid all three and you are flying. Stewart over Ryan was horrendous too.

Barnstorming Blighty has barged into the top eight after he carbon froze Hand Solo in a sizzling bye week performance by the legendary Pecker. Blighty’s epic 2122 easily eclipsed Hand’s score which was par for the round but well short in his match up. Plenty of other Divvy III coaches cranked it up as well. Predictably, Trotters was one of those and their consistency has them well placed for a return to Division II action next season. Top eight sides and flag contenders King Cobwebs and Wizard’s Sleeves also scored over 2000 but the surprise was Willys Rolly who racked up 2096 to smash my inconsistent Pigs Arsenal side who can’t buy a win in this league. With so many trades the uniques lists are getting quite short which means draws and close matches will be on the cards in bye weeks. This week it was Persh getting off the bottom after winning by two points and Cathy holding off Port Fever by 7. Great matches to win, not so good on the losing side. Thankfully Golden Fleece keeping the door ajar for Pigs Arsenal to avoid relegation which was not in the script for this year.

And here comes the flying Chicken! In a new twist, last placed Chicken Twisties have finally shown some of the form we know they can show as they blitzed a top eight side Killer Wombats in a one-sided match that changed the above status for both. Willys Rolly was another team who excelled on the weekend and another side who has recovered from an ordinary patch of form to once again threaten for the finals. Trotters had a rare loss as they fell short against Crow Call and Greedy Guns were another top four side to falter as they lost the close one of the round against Golden Fleece who are staying one step ahead of the relegation zone at the moment. Speaking of, Pigs Arsenal went up two slots which dropped Port Fever into the bottom four but Chicken Twisties are looking to put their fowl form behind them so watch out Hand Solo and Skehan.

It’s ladies night in Division III as Trotters and Cathys Cream say ‘catch us if you can’ to the field. It was a week when the bottom teams shined and plenty of favourites fell over. In a rare occurrence, all three of the bottom sides won which means it’s going to be one hell of a relegation battle over the next few weeks of the season. Folks Chicken Twisties are BACK! I know I’ve said this earlier but this weeks result seems to leave no doubt. A 250-point win over a top eight team suggests that there is a Twist in Chicken’s season to come. Persh got home in one of many tight games this week while the DREAM is still alive as the Golden ones were well and truly fleeced. Blighty Teasdale and Pigs Arsenal collected vital wins in real heartstoppers with Pigs getting up by a single point over an unlucky Greedy Guns. Killer Wombats was the big winner with the way the results fell as they clambered back into the eight at the expense of The Cats who fell short against Blighty.

Trotters regained their one match lead at the top of the table when True North upset Cathy’s Cream to waltz into the top eight. That makes three ladies in the top eight now in the Divvy III comp but it’s such an even league that most teams in the eight aren’t safe yet with the possible exception of Trotters. Divvy III got amongst the high scoring spirit of the round with plenty of 2000s being rolled out. Crow Call’s strong recent form continued this week as the Crowies topped the league scoring, perhaps they got rid of Scott Burns ha ha. Willys Rolly was the biggest loser being ousted from the top eight and Hand Solo very stiff after scoring over 2000 and being rolled by Golden Fleece as they overtook them on the ladder. The top eight are being stalked by Pigs Arsenal in particular but it’s the battle to avoid relegation that is getting a bit spicy. Chicken Twisties can’t get a winning run going at all this season and Persh handed out a belting to ensure it was the Chicken who was roasted and on the bottom of the ladder. Persh are 4-1 in the last five so what the hell is she doing down there? She looks a monty to escape the drop so look out boys….and The Cats.

Cathy’s Cream fired a warning shot across the bow of the competition after they smashed Pigs Arsenal to end their recent charge into the top eight. The Cream rose to the top in what was a bit of a curly one for the Pigs. Cathy’s 2554 was too hot to handle with Trotters putting in a poor shift to lose to relegation battler Port For Ever it meant the gap at the top of the table was reduced to four points. Greedy Guns are back in town too. It was a polished performance from the guns who blew away Willys Rolly. The consistent Crow Call and Wizards Sleeves combinations appear to have settled into the top eight as well with almost the rest of the comp mathematically a chance of making the eight. It’s an absolutely brutal league this with the bottom team on 22 points already with three minor rounds to play. Someone could win eight games and go down in this league which would be pretty stiff I reckon. No team has won seven and gone down in Hogg history. This is the closest league we’ve ever had. All 20 of these teams deserve to be in Division III at the very least next season.

Previously untouchable Trotters have hit a bit of a lean streak of late and this recent wobbly form has meant that Cathy’s Cream are the new Division III ladder leaders. Best performed for the round included teams outside the eight but keeping the pressure on in Willys Rolly and Golden Fleece. Problem is those inside the top eight aren’t opening the door as Blighty, Wombats and Cobwebs all won on the weekend. Hand Solo also had a good week and this allowed them to escape the relegation zone dropping Chicken Twisties back into the red once again. All four relegation teams have the chance to escape but Skehan needs a miracle to stay up next year. Teams on eight wins are hoping that something goes wrong with the teams currently in the bottom half of the eight as any team with eleven wins or more has made the finals. My mob put in a Barry Crocker and had two donuts to slide to a very costly loss to The Cats.

A couple of weeks ago it looked like the Grand Final might be an all ladies affair as Cathy’s Cream and Trotters had put a sizeable gap on the pack. In recent weeks Cathy has been clowning a bit and Trotters has been having a rough Trott as they tumble down the rankings in the Hogg. Greedy Guns now appears very well placed to pounce on this most even of premierships as the new standout side just at the right time of the season. None of the other sides seem to be able to call on such heavy scoring but there is a lot to like about Blighty and King Cobwebs of late. Crow Call put in a very strong shift last week against a sputtering Pigs Arsenal (ha ha) and the last round is full of finals possibilities as you’d expect with such a log jam in the middle (ha ha again). All eyes will be on the big match between Blighty and the Wombats in a match that the Wombats must win. He won’t do it I reckon I reckon Blighty is home. In another key match, I know for a fact that Wizards has Salem and Nank and he can’t fill those gaps so Pigs Arse should finish with a win and keep the door open for Wombats should they win. Blighty will be safe even if he gets rolled I reckon cos Wizards are GAWN. Golden Fleece has Hawkers while Willys cop Cathy on the rebound so Wombats just has to do his own dirty work this weekend if they are to play finals. We finally have our first two relegated sides as Port Fever and DREAMERTEAM can’t overhaul Twisties’ percentage. Hand isn’t beating Persh so he goes down while Skehan has to rock and roll in form Crow Call and hope Twisties are crunched by The Cats which isn’t happening. Top 15 are guaranteed Divvy III at least but I don’t see Twisties going down and I don’t think he deserves to either. Would be funny though.

I've traded agressively to try avoid relegation, I was out of trades by Rd17 or 18
