So they got it wrong, but not 50m penalty wrong.

Good work AFL.

So from now on players can just keep going until told to stand or they call play on by that logic

I'm confused, the whistle was blown for a mark, no verbal 'play on' from the ump but it should have been given play on so that negates the 50m penalty? Right...

Why would it be play on anyway?

Based on this, she must have consulted with @wedgie - he's the only other person in the world who came up with the same conclusion ;)

She's saying he marked it and played on before the umpire said anything like stand or play on so the correct call was play on.
Ump should've said stand and then if they moved it's 50.
What a crock!
Let's face it 4 umpires is not working.
There's now instances, one in the game yesterday, where there's 3 umpires in the area and they wait for each other to blow the whistle.

One example in ports game.
GWS bloke gets tackled from behind, umpire is behind said tackler. GWS player never takes possession, umpire couldn't see whether he did or not cause he's behind the GWS player.
Blows his whistle, and guesses the player has taken possession pays holding the ball.
There's no way that umpire could see. Out and out guess, and where there should've been an umpire that had a better view, there was silence.

L Kane not doing herself any favours at the moment. Was really hoping she would succeed as she said all the right things when she was appointed but she is struggling big time. Looks well and truly out of her depth. Multiple issues weekly (mainly due to umpiring & rule changes)

Wasn't worth a suspension FFS.

Although I also didn't think Dixon's bump was worth 3 either.

Talk the afl are changing the father sons points structure and are trying to push it through for this year's draft.
Voss not happy as it effects the Campo boys. Her and Dillon under some pressure.
Kane does speak really well but have to agree shes earning her money right now with weekly issues.

The term they need to pull their finger out and get the game in order has new meaning.

I wonder if Port will reference Jesse Hogan's incident from round 6 in an attempt to downgrade his one match ban?

Pretty fair from Carlton. Understanding rules do change etc but clubs would plan far more than one year ahead and definitely take into account potential father sons especially ones like the Camporeales who have been elite footballers through most of their junior footy in the SANFL system.

I feel like any major change to the rules like that the AFL should be required to at least give a couple years notice.

Carlton deliberately traded out 3rd round picks for multiple 4th rounders to use for the Campo boys, if they change the rules on them now without notice it f..ks them up royally. Has to be a min. 2 year phase in period.
