See my comment above.

In 5 years Davies-Uniake is 31 and one of their key pillars in 2024 will be past it.

"Port and Crows not started their rebuilds"

Adelaide have, but butchered it.

Port, what?

Sweet could not get game at his club
Soldo was behind Nank and not playing
Esava not playing at Cats
Zerk-Thatcher was getting mauled every week at Bombers.

Strategy was top up with average players who could not get a game with other clubs?

And who butchered it??

Wait, we talking rebuild or top up? I'll go with whatever you like.

Can tell on here who just buys into whatever the media says & doesn't do any research

Matthew Lloyd one of the few who actually makes sense, not like Kane and Kingy that just look for click bait stories.

Thought Lloyd's analysis of Port was the best I have heard, was absolutely spot on.

Port weren't rebuilding, they were adding depth to their list.
Crows were/are rebuilding as they lack the same depth as Port.

And their sanfl team are getting flogged every week so depth is an issue.
The list just isn't where Ken thinks it is?

Port have the 10th oldest list in the comp.

The core ( Houston, Powell-Pepper, Drew, Marshall, Farrell, Rozee, Butters, Georgiades, Mead, Bergman, Lord, Sinn, Visentini, Horne-Francis, Burgoyne among others) are all under 26.

Now, to the "rebuild/top up". Lycett, McKenzie, Clurey and Jonas had their bodies fail them as they aged, Hayes was just no good. We had one off season to bring in at least one ruckman and 2 key defenders. There's no denying Soldo wasn't playing at AFL level, Nankervis keeping him in the wings. Sweet held out by English. Albeit they were in the VFL you could say some good rucks were keeping them out. Both were a better option that Lycett and Hayes.

BZK and Ratugolea came with warning labels, but, given your knowledge on not only our list ( horrific, you called it ) who would you have chased and how?

I'm all for knocking people who make decisions especially when you can offer alternatives, makes you look like you know what you're talking about.

Boon, do you think some of those decisions (along with not having a top 40 pick in this years draft) were rushed due to Ken running out of time? Would have a new coaching group made the same decisions?

I think thats potentially where Port made some bad calls, there was an opportunity to appoint a new coach which may meant you fell a bit for a year or two but then made a serious long term impact once the kids develop into 75+ game players.

Maybe part of the issue is the members and their expectations? If they hadn't chased those players and instead invested in the draft, to the detriment of on field results, and not been as competitive - how would the members have viewed it?

They all seem to be expecting flags every season.. as soon as Port falters they get nasty.

The talk of doom and gloom at Alberton, while it's pleasing from the outside to watch just won't hold up long-term.
Let's say they fall apart, miss the 8. Why can't they rebound next season. Been done before.
The list isn't that bad.
Kenny may have run his race at Port, but from where they were to where they are now is a credit to him
Last year we heard that Carr was making all the moves, if that's the case then he won't get the gig...

I don't question our list management, Cripps does an excellent job of identifying what we need and going and getting it, by trade or draft.

We've brought in who Hinkley wanted / needed (keep in mind he's only one of the list management team ) when we had to ( Polec, Ryder, Dixon, Watts, Burton, Aliir, Finlayson, Rioli, Horne-Francis and the 4 this year ) and we've still managed to bring in first round picks ( Marshall, Powell-Pepper, Rozee, Butters, Duursma, Bergman, Georgiades, Jones, Sinn ).

Since 2014 when Ryder came in Hinkley has been given all the talent he has needed. He hasn't got it done. Would another coach have structured the list differently? No doubt, playing philosophy dictates the list structure but I don't think it's been reactionary to Hinkley's current position, we are one of the better clubs when it comes to trading / drafting in / out to keep the list in contention. Every coach would want that.

The decisions made this year weren't by choice as noted above McKenzie, Clurey, Jonas, Lycett and Hayes all had time called on them faster than most expected.

This, with respect, is utter bollocks. Cornes on the Sunday Footy Show noted Port fans still think it's the SANFL and we'll win flags every other year, that's 30 f*cking years ago and not one Port fan I know thinks that way. It's bullshit.

What we expect is the club to do everything it can every year to strive for that, under this current regime and coach we have had plenty of goes at it ( see my list management post above ), there's now only one thing left to do and that should have been done 4 years ago, give someone else a go.
