Clubs facing similar resourced, local rivals with less travel and the ability for junior sides to stay local may assist football in a heartland area of SA that struggles in recent years. SANFL and local Councils can assist with the inevitable culture issues that emerge with local clashes week in, week out!

Again, food for thought!

Northern Panthers (Smithfield / Munno Para)

I wouldn't use the SFL as a good example. They've got from a 20 team with 2 Divs league to a 9, now a 10 team 1 Div league. Lost a heap of clubs to neighboring leagues and ADFL. Flagstaff Hill winning year after year and Aldinga struggling every year with no relegation or promotion.
Little movement on the ladder year by year.

True, but look at the growth in that area in recent years - and accessible easily from the expressway. Not many other clubs will be able to achieve that level of growth in their suburb.

AV did benefit from the Smthfield hiatus a decade ago, then built a very strong junior program off the population growth and lack of close competition for juniors.

Obviously kudo's to AV on where they're at now, but they are the exception, I'd struggle to see another club moving and having the same success.
Yeah, fair shout.

I don’t think there would be a person South of Regency Road against this concept, however there would be quite a few North of it that would be. I can’t see how it would make clubs in this proposed league better and stronger long term. If anything I reckon it would make them go backwards.

How well would it compete against the BLG league?

Put them up against D2 and and a couple D1 sides and you’ll find out.
