I know it's a dead match (in that South Africa can't win series) and all, but the last match in the 3 match series starts tonight (Friday).

We could be in trouble here boyos. Smith isn't playing and our mental mastery of the Yarpies captain has been a big edge for us in the last five tests. Not only will his replacement score more runs but Kallis might actually have a clue tactically.

Mildly amusing that Smith damaged his ring finger ...

I reackon Tait might be a chance for a game. Kapser has been a little pedestrian, dead rubber, etc.

Hope he gets a start.

Unless the selectors have already named the XI as being unchanged from the last test, you old fool.

And it's "reckon".

Yes, I'm a little bewildered the selectors didn't take this opportunity to have a look at Tait in Test Match conditions, but I guess they are obligated to play the 11 players they deem the best available.

Is that how you spell it Big Fella? Aussies in deep diggery do 4 for 80-odd chasing 300. (If that doesn't make Jimmy jump in with a score card then nothing will...)

Australias innings, Cricinfo commentary of the 1st ball

Postby Ian » Sun Apr 02, 2006 7:11 am

0.1 Ntini to Langer, OUT, starts of with a short one, banged in, Langer takes his eye of the ball and ducks, hit him on the back of the helmet, Langer is down, Hayden is concerned, calls for the Phsyio, who comes running into the ground and looks after Langer, oh he is bleeding behind his head, he is going off the field. It was very painful.
the ball actually hits the helmet and lobs up to Ntini. Langer is retired hurt, Ponting walks into the middle.

Considering Langer's height, the ball must've been just short of a length!

I'm amazed that this ball took Langer by surprise, he should have been expecting it. He usually gets at least one short one early in his innings, expecially in the first 2-3 balls. Not a great idea to take your eye off the ball for any reason. I just hope he is okay and able to bat on day 3, we are going to need him.

Aussies still in with a good chance here, good innings by Hussey.. but we need to atleast bring it back to par terms.

Too bad for Langer, should have seen it coming.. but couldn't react in time, ah that's cricket.
