This is likely the first of two opening spots needing to be filled in the next 12 months. I think Khawaja will retire before next summer. For that reason, I think we need to lock in a proper opener this summer and Green’s injury is a blessing in disguise.

We don't have any off shore tours in 2025 do we? I would think that Usman would retire after a series in Australia, especially given that Sydney is always the final test.

You're a long time retired and if you're still at the top of your game you should continue on......................well that's what I'm hoping for.

On the flip side, it's a good time to be producing runs as an opener at shield level.

There's supposed to be a tour to Sri Lanka in late January/February, no dates are confirmed yet though and the WTC final (if Australia qualify) is June 11th.

Sri Lanka, West Indies plus hopefully the WTC. I only know that because abuse I’m trying to plan holidays next year and squeeze a tour of the Windies in along the way
