Nope. That was effectively our B and C grade teams and it’s clearly evident that outside the WC that ODI’s are just glorified practice matches. We were flogged by South Africa last year in a ODI series and then won the WC a few months later and I’d be pretty confident that if another WC was played next week we would be at the pointy end of the comp regardless of where it’s played

Yep, you just have to wonder what our method is? If we're trying to get games into the young ones then all good, but why play the likes of Smith, Marnus, Big Show, Stoinis and Abbott? Why isn't our best ODI player playing, why play Inglis ahead of Carey?

There is a distinct lack of interest but it's caused by CA playing not even fringe players, if we played our best XI we would pants the Pakis.

IMO Inglis is playing and being groomed for the next Australian Captain full time, might be wrong but just have that inkling

Well if he's going to use his bowlers like yesterday he's going to lose a lot of games as captain.
Oh and he's a pom. Not happening no way.

How come Carey can play a One Day Match for SA tomorrow, but Marnus, Smith, Cummins, Starc and Hazelwood weren’t available yesterday for Australia?

They didn't want to fly to WA

Lyon, Carey, Head, McSweeney, all have captained SA.

Have we ever had 4 SA captains in the Australian side at the same time?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

This weeks ABC Grandstand Cricket Podcast is worth a listen I reckon, Corbin and Ed made some good points about the opening conundrum.

Talking crap imo

Bagging McSweeneys' record and the selectors but then offer no real alternative apart from Harris who has shown isn't up to it

The wider Australian Cricket community needs to understand that batting 1st drop for South Australia, is basically opening!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I felt that Ed Cowan, as a former opener was taking McSweeney's selection and anyone who doesn't open the batting for their state, personally and had his "Opening Batsman Union Rep" hat on. The stats Cowan quoted from Gideon Haigh about when McSweeney had come in as first drop before the 10th over was interesting and supported Cowan's opposition but I agree with the selectors choice if not on anything else but McSweeney seems to have the best temperament to make the quick adjustment to cope at test level.

Happy for McSweeney to be in the side and opening.

It is funny though, most of us myself included would say for a batsmen to be in the aussie side they need to be batting top 4 for their state. On the other hand we are more than happy to have a bloke who doesn't open for his state side open for the test side.

Attending Coldplay was more important than playing/captaining a side in a series decider
Plus I just heard those are the only 3 ODIs for the summer

People losing their minds over Cummins not playing the final ODI, but nothing mentioned about Head, Starc, Hazelwood, Smith and Marnus all missing too.

Perhaps when CA decide to rest players, they should be locked in a dark room.

Always a strong Australia side when you have a lot of New South Welshman. Just like its always a strong English side when you have a bunch of Yorkies in there.
