I'm useless.. managed to drop weight - but just comes back with interest it seems, and the more busy work / life gets the less motivated I seem to be.

Out to 122kg now.. 7kg in 3yrs added. I've given up. Alcohol is the biggest issue for me I think.

I love beer, I mean really love it. I'm not sure you appreciate how much I love it when I say I love it, but I do.

So, the only way to keep beer in my life was to haul my arse off the lounge. I had a rotten nights sleep Sunday night and didn't hit the gym yesterday morning but got home, got changed, walked the 1500m to the gym, did my shoulder routine and walked home.

I'm also trying to have at least 3 AFD's a week. Gets hard* by the time Thursday / Friday rolls around but I'm going ok with Sun-Tuesday and have added meal replacement shakes this week for my lunch.

I've not broken any records but I'm still going. -14kg from Xmas.

Different things work for different people ... there's no one magic bullet.

The main thing is that whatever anyone does, it needs to be sustainable. No point going all out and getting buff if that nearly kills you ... there's no way that you'll be able to maintain it.

Your weight will naturally fluctuate, but if you can keep those fluctuation to a minimum, say a couple of kilos, and also be aware of when that starts to happen, then you're half way there.

If anyone wants some tips I've found a bloke on Facebook, Alex Beevis. His moto for blokes in their 40's and 50's is "Realistic and Sustainable" ( yes I brought the shirt ). He gives some ideas on what to do in the gym but more so he comes* across my feed pretty often and he's all about small bits of motivation, ideas to change things in the gym etc.

He does have paid up programs ( I'm not doing that ) but for me he's been a source of motivation daily to be "realistic and sustainable".

BBQ weather makes it increasingly difficult to have 3 AFDs a week

I find it easier to do my routines in summer
I also eat less / better in summer (including straight off the BBQ)

Doing the x trainer at the gym is so effing boring
Doing a 2 hour walk to/from Mt Lofty or Mt Osmond in the sun is so much better for physical / mental health. I can do it 3x per week

I'm 2 kgs up on my low this year (in front of last year) - I am working on 5kgs less by NYE

A very good GP once told me, you should lose weight the same way you put it on. Gradually.

He also said what you weigh is not as important as what your weight is made up of.

BREAKFAST
Ive adopted sum golden rules that i started a fortnight ago , for my breakfast
I had previously only had brekky if i wuz hungry enough
BUT
So many experts say that brekky is a must for weight loss

OTHER FACTORS
Mobility, something sadly I dont have these days with arthritic feet , a legacy of foot possessions at footy, batting and bowling at cricket
So I need to somehow deal with Inflammation as well as stress- both factors needed for weight loss
Healthy body healthy feet healthy mind is my focus
So Ive spent a fair chunk of October you tubing, reading, watching wellness programmes and asking others how to deal with inflammation

INFLAMMATION
Ive been having juices for about a fortnight
Tumeric root, Ginger root , Celery are the mainstays of the juices
I add in the following intermittently Chia Seeds [recommended to me by Dedja on this site ] Pineapple, Black Pepper, Avocado, Water, Ice
Warning
If you have redback spiders in the toilet, take care, as I have been spending a lot of time in the loo ....
Results
Promising, only used pain killer once , increased mobility , and my pals Dopamine and Endorphins are visiting me

I have a degree of optimism for November

Good Morning Starshine

The first few minutes , up to an hour in the morning can dictate the day
I often have brekky outside in sunlight
I obtain a Vitamin D fix,
This combined with the rightish brekky , can set up my day, as well as lowering my appetite for the remainder of it

AG
For starters take little steps , cant go freezing turkey immediately

3 types of food
Protein
Fat
Carbohydrates

I'm no expert but here goes
There is a tendency for people to eat a lot of carbs in the morning
A lot of refined carbs can ignite sugar spikes - this could cause increased hunger throughout the day
By eating protein meals and good fats and being on a low sugar brekky can decrease hunger throughout the day

My % over a lifetime for brekky - about :
80% carbs
20 % protein and fat
Very little good fats and more in bad fats

Im trying this in November
15% carbs
85 % fats and proteins

If I succeed I will post my results
