Strong mail is when the 1st-4yr players returned

They weren't in good nick
Didn't push to better previous time trials

I thought a few of the younger blokes were a bit smartassparkaroony in the finals this season.

Gulden, for one, was just trying to bite off way more than he could chew.

Will wait and see what the presser gives, but on the face of it, a mature and sensible solution to move the club forward. Cox becomes only the 3rd coach in 25 years, and Longmire continues his strong contribution to the club.

The only query is whether they need someone from outside of their bubble to make that next step, but time will tell.

Apparently anyone was an idiot who dared mention after the GF that maybe the Swans need to review where their club is at, looking at all personnel, including the coach. That aged well. #-o

Well done to the Swans for the way they seemed to have handled this.

No surprise i am a big John Longmire fan. Guttered to see him go, but incredibly grateful for what he has done for the club. Easily the best coach we've had, unfortunately he deserved more flags, i believe is mainly the player's fault.
I think it will be another good succession plan.

He will be missed.

When Hinkley graciously leaves before his contract is up and hands over the reigns he will also be warmly eulogised. :D

I would think making or winning a grand final would put you in that discussion??

I would take Paul Roos over Horse any day.

Good news for the Swans. Really it was hard to see how Horse could take them forward after the grand final loss and clearly after 14 years you need to freshen things up.

There's this idea with some coaches that they're "great coaches" - whatever that means - and therefore it's blasphemy to suggest that perhaps after a decade or two it's time to consider whether the playing group would benefit from someone new in charge.

Strange concept to me, in the context of professional sport, but anywho.

I'm with you, everyone gets stale, that message doesn't get across like it used to, especially with a group that's been together for quite a while.

You're expecting your senior group to lead the rest, but if they've heard it all before and haven't made it all the way recently, people would get jaded.
