Favourite Cheese

Postby Punk Rooster » Thu Nov 01, 2007 4:23 pm

Name your favourite cheese, & perhaps suggest a good red or white wine to enjoy with it.

For mine-
Castello
Camembert

I can't recommend any reds or whites to go with, as I've no experience there.
I do like a particular brand of cracker to go with the aforementioned cheese (I'll post it when I find out).
Also, I enjoy pepperoni (a stick of) with my cheese.

Any cheese, any time, with any wine...
My Dutch blood likes the Edam and the Mid -North European style cheeses more so (Dutch, German, Swiss)...
Prefer a Shiraz, although have become addicted to Nepanthe Pinot Noir...

Being of half cast Dutch heritage my favourite cheese would be LADEN, (SORT OF LIKE SPICED GOUDA). It has cumin seeds to it and is very nice. Expensive though!
I actually eat all cheese by the 1kg block except I can't stand the taste of Coon cheese for some reason.
Coles Lite cheese is okay for value.
For me Port goes well with cheese, olive, salami and cracked pepper cracker biscuits.

Milawa Cheddar works for me! I am not a huge fan of wines as such, yet I would probably go with Brown Brothers Dry Red if pushed!

I like most cheese, but can't stand Blue Vein! In grade 8 we had a non-alcoholic wine and cheese tasting lesson and it was either the non-alcoholic wine or a taste of blue vein cheese that caused me to vomit... either way, I've avoided both since.

could really give a flying fork about the fancy shite but the politically incorrect one between two bits of bread goes alright. For a cheaper alternative the generic brand gets a pass mark also

Epicure rocks with a 2005 Shiraz by the name of "The Gimp".
I know a bird that likes a curious little smooth creamy cheese...she calls it something like "smegma". Never heard of it myself.
