Lady Bay

A humid start to the round for the front 9.
The sun came out for back 9.
We had a good run for first 7 holes before we hit the wall of groups in front.
The 3w from the tee was excellent. Hit a poor drive on 10, just a toe popper. But still got reasonable distance. Didn't help that I'd just put sunscreen on and club felt slippery. And the 11th just pulled it a fraction into the rough.
Wedges were OK.
Putting was ok. Hit a few poor putts adjusting to the speed etc.
Course is dry. Still good grass coverage.
39pts

Had a quick 9 at the Pat tonight with a couple of mates, that place never changes!

South Lakes for 18 tomorrow, showdown with my lad who hit 87 at Thaxted earlier in the week.

Hidden Valley - 31/12/2024

Sensational day for golf. 25 and just a light breeze about.

8.10am tee time. Just a handful of vehicles in the car park on arrival.

Hit a small bucket of balls on the range, then a few putts before hitting off.

I really like this course, love to play it more often. So many good holes.

Sadly it was a poor day for me. Barely hit a fairway, and when I did, then stuffed my next shot…

24 pts.

Early tee off at South Lakes yesterday, for the last round of the year, which ended up being my best for the year easily. In a year where I have struggled to break thru the 90 barrier I shot 82 off the stick and 44 points. Sort of came out of nowhere  Made some pars from poor positions and finished the round (and year) with a birdie on the last, only really poor hole was the 15th where I scratched with a triple bogey. Driving again was solid, loosening my grip has worked wonders for my accuracy. Best of all I rolled my lad who didnt have a great day, still hold bragging rights for now.

Course is fast becoming one of my favs, beautifully presented, fairways perfect and greens ran true at a perfect speed. There was little wind on the front 9 and only really impacted us in the last 3-4 holes. Look forward to getting back there.

It's a nice course, can be a little tricky in areas.
I know the last time I played. Think it was 7th, my tee shot went front of 8th tee block and then I was aiming at the wrong green

First round of the year coming up for twilight.

Dropped from 15.4 start of last year to 12.4 after ballooning out to 17.2 or something silly.
December was a purple patch mostly. August from memory was also good.
So December sort of showed that my 3w is just as effective as my driver (still in emergency to get fixed at drummond) off the tee.
Really worked on using my feet more, particularly with Driver but also other clubs.

The one area that I know is horrible is my putting. And it really shows up. So that will be something that will be addressed this year. I've completely opened up my stance. But it's the first putt that kills me. Too often just halfway there....
If I can putt half decent. Heavily reduce 3 putts. Get the first putt in and around the hole and just give myself a chance, single digits may be on the cards in 12 months.
