Movember

Postby Wedgie » Thu Nov 01, 2007 3:48 pm

Heya guys and gals, I thought I'd give this Movember thing a go, had a clean shave this morning, got the daughter to take a pic of my clean shaven face this arvo and will start the mo. Which sort should I go for?

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I'll be growin a Mo. That's right I'm bringing the Mo back because I'm passionate about changing men's health and the fight against male depression and prostate cancer. Why...

Depression affects 1 in 6 men...Most don't seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide.
Last year in Australia 18,700 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2,900 died of prostate cancer - equivalent to the number of women who die from breast cancer annually.
Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 5 years less than females.

To sponsor my Mo please go to http://www.movember.com/au/donate, enter my registration number which is 124661 and your credit card details. Or you can sponsor me by cheque made payable to the "Movember Foundation" clearly marking the donation as being for my Registration Number: 124661. Please mail cheques to: PO Box 292, Prahran VIC 3181. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

The money raised by Movember is donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative, which will use the funds to create awareness, fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and male depression.

For those that have supported Movember in previous years you can be very proud of the impact it has had and can check out the detail at: Fundraising Outcomes.

Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Partés. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title. If you would like to be part of this great night you'll need to purchase a Gala Parté ticket .

Thanks for your support

Here's a pic of my ugly mug, proof that there's no hair on my lip yet, even if I do have a nice zit on my lip at the moment.

Be generous folks, it'd be great publicity for this site if we could raise some good money for a great cause! Cheers.

Yeah, its getting there, probably about a no 2 at the moment, looks very grey in the pic because the front and sides are very grey, top and back is black. Don't know what happened to the brown hair I had up until my 20s. :?

LOL I opted for the handlebar mate, good luck with it!

I'm actually having a crack at it myself this year with a few mates, although we don't have sponsors, we just figure it's for a good cause and will support the other lads out there doing it who do have sponsors :D

Go for the handlebar mate, get it nice and thick and long and then get into strife with the Mrs, you will never grow a handlebar mo again after being lifted up off the floor. Good luck with it mate, I hope you and the others involve raise heaps of money. My donation has been forwarded. Think perhaps we had better have weekly updates of photos on here as well

Thanks for the sponsorship Locky, I'll put pic updates on here, might have the daughter take them of me in the doghouse as that's where I'll be for the next 30 days!
Will probably try for the handlebar, shouldn't be too hard as I had a goatee for about 5 years in the late 90s.
If I stuff it up could always aim at something smaller as my skills in regard to trimming haven't been needed for a long long time.

Go the circus mo, "The Ringmaster" with the curly bits on the side.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

lol@Diss. I reckon it would be a big greyer.

A goatee isn't a mo, its a beard, plus its so 90s, had one for about 5 years.
Get more abuse with just a mo.

Go the Hitler Wedgie!

I tried Movember last year, but just looked like a dirty rapist. Plus I broke my leg in half Brownie style, which I'm putting down as Gods way of telling me never to grow a mo ever again.

P.S. Wedgie, you should dig up an eMOticon smilie for Movember.
