Better than 1 and probably no time for 3
But yes, I apologise for that poor language. Completely unnecessary and inappropriate.

Would the first test team be fairly obvious......

Khawaja
Konstas
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Webster
Carey
Starc
Lyon
Hazelwood
Murphy

Presuming Cummins will be out with the birth of his child.

I want Boland to play but Ronny and the selectors seem pretty loyal to the old guard.

Can't say I've seen heaps of either Webster or Konstas against spin but presume they will get first opportunity.

Not really expecting Khawaja to retire between now and then and think his recent performances on the sub-continent will get him picked despite being out of form.

Green in the mix?? Not sure a sub-continent series would be the ideal situation for him to come back into it and it couldn't be for Webster.

Obviously, the media are running with stories of Head potentially opening, Handscombe being in the mix but hard to believe any of that is correct.
I’m thinking for Sri Lanka it will be

Head
Konstas
Khawaja
Labuschagne
Smith
Webster
Carey
Starc
Kuhnemann
Murphy
Lyon

Starc an Webster to open the bowling for the 10 overs that the ball is any good and then Webster to change to spin and we bowl spin the remainder of the innings.
3 front line spinners plus Webster and Head. It’s going to be an absolute dirt track

Green was initially ruled out of playing for six months, potentially nine months so he won't be in the mix for Sri Lanka.

The only difference I'd have to your team is Kuhnemann for Murphy but Aus may play all three spinners and Starc as the only quick with Webster as the other seam option. Interesting to see how many quicks they take over.

Interesting comments from Captain Pat......reckon i will back the captain in here rather than the old skool media crew :)

"I think people mistake a bit of confidence with bullying or abuse," Test captain Pat Cummins said on Sunday.

"You're allowed to walk around with your shoulders puffed back and play a few cricket shots. I don't think that's illegal, but some people really take offence to that and want to kind of put him back in his place.

"We say the same to all of our players, just bring yourself every day and be yourself. Go about how you think represents yourself the best and how you want to play.

"I think he's been really good this series. He stood up for himself as needed to."

Why on earth would you want to move our most prolific run scorer away from his #5 spot?

Why would you put Marsh back in there?

I can understand the love for Boland but we won't go in with 2 quicks, last time we went there, over the two tests we bowled 82 overs of pace vs 183 overs of spin, the last time we played on the sub-continent we only played one recognized quick.

Boland is redundant over there, the nagging length that he bowls here won't have the same affect in their conditions, just won't get the carry.

Probably as truthful as any media personality who these days says whatever line will get them the most likes, reacts, views.

I do find the bolded line the most interesting and a real accurate summary of the biggest change in this generations attitude towards sport.

'Back in my day' you hung on every word your coach said, you didn't question anything and in my experience most coaches taught from how the text book said and what had historically being done.

Turn to 2025 and this generation bloody question everything and they also want to discover and explore and see what possibilities are out there.

Also, i the era of social media and having everything in the public this bloody generation are so concerned with their 'brand' 'image' 'how they look or represent'. That was the further thing from my mind as a young sports player.....all i cared about was what my captain/coach wanted me to do.

Test cricket is going to look so different in 2040.

Will probably be played with a tennis ball so no one gets hurt, you won't be given out first ball either.

I have always thought sledging and agro etc are inappropriate on the cricket field & its good that something is, finally, being done about it.

But, it is not Cricket Australia's or Australian Captain's right to give us their opinion about climate change, #YES or any other social issue at the time. It worked so well for Qantas and Joyce.

2 current Test players not on the list (unless I’ve missed any updates, or can’t count, happy to be corrected).

Cricket Australia contracted men’s players 2024-25:

Sean Abbott (NSW/Parramatta District Cricket Club)
Xavier Bartlett (QLD/Gold Coast Cricket Club)
Scott Boland (VIC/Frankston Peninsula Cricket Club)
Alex Carey (SA/Glenelg Cricket Club)
Pat Cummins (NSW/Penrith Cricket Club)
Nathan Ellis ((TAS/Lindisfarne Cricket Club)
Cameron Green (WA/Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club)
Aaron Hardie (WA/Willetton Cricket Club)
Josh Hazlewood (NSW/St George Cricket Club)
Travis Head (SA/Tea Tree Gully Cricket Club)
Josh Inglis (WA/Joondalup Cricket Club)
Usman Khawaja (QLD/Valley District Cricket Club)
Marnus Labuschagne (QLD/Redlands Cricket Club)
Nathan Lyon (NSW/Northern District Cricket Club)
Mitchell Marsh (WA/Fremantle Cricket Club)
Glenn Maxwell (VIC/Fitzroy Doncaster Cricket Club)
Lance Morris (WA/Scarborough Cricket Club)
Todd Murphy (VIC/St Kilda Cricket Club)
Jhye Richardson (WA/Fremantle Cricket Club)
Matt Short ((VIC/Northcote Cricket Club)
Steve Smith (NSW/Sutherland Cricket Club)
Mitchell Starc (NSW/Manly Warringah Cricket Club)
Adam Zampa (NSW/Sutherland Cricket Club)

I think it's a load of frog shit anyway, how many players end up representing Australia that aren't on the list?

There's obviously two players to be added, do they have a limit to how many can be on it?

No disagreement from me, have always thought the same. I guess it’s only importance is to players from a financial perspective, but only for those on the fringes.

The series will forever be known as the McSweeney-Labuschagne series because if either or both of them got out that first evening in Adelaide the rest would have been pissed out for bugger all and we would have been 2-0 down.
