AFL footy or not it’s where it should be played.
Like many on here I grew up going to AO for shield games watching Hookesy and co. but unfortunately those days are gone as is the interest in the competition

As I said, don’t think his teammates be too impressed

Ramadan could have accepted, Grand Prix does not pass the pub test!

Probz didn't like the idea of being captained by Marnus.

I'd say that would be the case.

Only since i've been coaching the young Muslims at my club that i realised just how intense Ramadan is - they're not even allowed water during the day!

Stuff playing 6hrs of cricket each day in the heat without any water.

I coached 3 young lads at footy, all midfielders and busted their arse all game but couldn't even have a sip of water, huge admiration for them.

Who would have thought the SACA’s would host the Final this year.

Certainly not the SMA or AFL

The Crows have their fingerprints all over this decision, AFL are taking the hit for them. Just listen to Silvers, he never wanted the game to happen.

Meanwhile 2 years ago at Marvel the AFL signed off on this -

If you heard Tim Silvers last night you would know that is incorrect. They were not even involved in the process. SACA, AFL, SMA and AFLPA were the ones involved. Ginever even said Port didn’t get a phone call about it

Their only concerns were potential, and he said numerous times that is highly unlikely, injury and what happens if the final day of the Shield is a raining and the pitches cannot be removed. Both fair points.

It’s hard to believe that anyone seriously thought the Shield final could have been played at AO with the logistics required.

It’s an unfortunate but obvious outcome.

What is has exposed is that there obviously has been no planning around what happens if SA do host it, you would think this wouldn't take much thought or energy with the SMA requesting a bigger window between AFL games so it could be done (i.e. oval is used for AFL on a Thursday night and then the following Sunday twilight or both teams play away for a weekend and then both play at home the next weekend.

No other ground big enough to accommodate an AFL game unlike Victoria, WA or NSW

It’s the same issue for NSW, QLD and Vic.

The Vics have hosted the final at Junction Oval, Hobart and Alice Springs.

I’m not sure a few days either side would have made much difference for the significant logistics required to make this happen.

It would be nice to do things differently, of course we have hosted it at Glenelg also.

TBH I always presumed it would be at KRO anyway, it will be a good atmosphere there.

If you bring your mountaineering gear you get a pretty good view on the eastern slope of KRO.

I'm with KG it's a disgrace.
Another shit decision from DILLan.
The afl would be well aware of the sacas form and ladder position and should've had a contingency for it hosting a final.
