What reverse free in the goal square?
The umpire made a botched call and realised he stuffed up.
Umpiring was as putrid as both sides but we did get a good ride tonight. Perhaps they felt sorry for us having no one on the bench :)

I assume it was a time wasting feee fir the ball being kicked away after the whistle.

Umpire thought Essendon did it and paid a free to north, then realised it was a north player who kicked it.

Not sure why it then wasn’t an Essendon free rather than a ball up

Exactly!
Should have paid an Essendon free not a ball up

well Fireball Friday was intersting

David King at around 6:55 CST: LDU any chance he doesnt fumble? he doesnt fumble North win by 3 goals. Cornes makes a comment to support King , King comes back with: "LDU if you havent got an inside out game, why are you out there".

Over to you Todd

For the record I though Cornes was out of line about Cheezel - 3rd year player who is getting theattention from the oppo and has to f develop strategies to cope with that to go to the next level. However he was spot on about Simpkins.

Second worst game I half watched this season. Last night's game was at least high pressure, but the skills were shocking.

Woeful game but in that last quarter and a bit we were running on fumes. North should have ran us off our feet so bizarre that they didn’t really try to game on as much as they should have.
Genuine cripple fight between two sides that will finish bottom 6

At least it's round 8 and not round 15. I went to Geelong in July 2003 and only thawed out last week.

How bad is the umpiring at the moment. No one can ever convince me the four umpire system is a good idea.

Melbourne v Essendon. What an advertisement for Gather Round! I was at the game and everyone was kind of looking at each other and saying 'wtf'?? The game briefly burst into life during the third term but was normal service resumed in the last.

Just more idiots making mistakes
Go back to 3 umpires and stop changing the rules or at least the interpretation each season

When we played after school we never needed an umpire, we knew when it was a free kick, perhaps they should try that system.

If we didn't agree with each other we just punched on to decide who was right.

That's right, it had some redeeming attributes. The Carlton game didn't really - Walsh Durdin and Hewitt aside.
