Absolutely this. My understanding is the AFLPA have hands on it complicating matters further.

Firstly, I certainly don't condone any threatening texts or whatever, and i'm not trying to make any excuses.. but.. the two things that pop into my mind this week:

1) Is there more to this than just a random text threatening a player? Is that why it's taking so long to also finalise a sanction?
2) Rioli appears to have been quite volatile - and dare I say self destructive - this year, makes me wonder what sort of head space he's in at the moment.

1. Yes, the two on field threats are complicating it as the AFL signed off on no punishment for just the off field text threat.
2. 100% he is not mentally right at the moment.

I think in isolation on field threats are seen by the players as heat of the moment and wouldn't be taken as serious. I mean, the day I played for Lockleys on Unley Oval and the Star Force Officer who I was standing threw me on the ground before the first bounce and told me he'd kill me if I went near the ball or him. I didn't actually think he'd kill me but I heeded the warning nonetheless.

But couple the two on field with the off field and we're in the spot we're in.

Booney I had a similar story playing CHB on this huge dude, and the first possession of the day I tugged on his jumper on the lead, he stopped mid lead, let the ball go over his head and I quote "you touch me again and I will ******* kill you". What he didnt know was one of my teammates at that time was a STAR group officer and stepped in and reminded him of his occupation.

Plugger had a rather famous story where he was matched up on Rocket Rodney Maynard at Moorabbin one day.

Big Tone had already seen off a few defenders already, on the way to a big bag of goals, when Rocket went down to man him up. Being the good country boy he is, he grabbed the back of Plugger's jumper to let him know he was there.

Plugger then told Rocket "if you do that again, I'm getting reported and you're going off on a stretcher, and neither of us want that, do we?"

Rocket wisely decided to keep his hands to himself after that.

 similar stories but we were both the victims! the STAR group officer was defending me though, not attacking me.

Get around Willie and don’t think everyone is out to get him. Don’t like what’s on social media then don’t “go home and read social media “

Chris Davies… enough said.

You would have thought Willie was the victim in all of this listening to Chris Davies

Why hasn’t the club stood Willie down whilst the AFL is investigating these new threats?

To quote Chris Davies (well in a short way) “we don’t want to exile Willie so he goes home and reads bad things that people have written on social media “

Being so he cannot play and being exiled from the club are two totally different things

Just close your mouths and just look after Rioli. I agree Booney, nothing was gained by holding that or Koch interview yesterday

Mine was for Lockleys against Pulteney Old Scholars from memory. From 86-98 Sturt used Adelaide Oval as the home so it would have been in that time frame, I think it would have been in A3 around 94.

I agree, why target Dale? He doesn’t seem to be that type of player.

Had a few things that are not quite right over the past 6 months so there is something off with him.

Is there a showdown this week? (understandably) one of the weakest build ups to this game in some time...
