George Owens from WA inducted.

Plenty of the Vic media will be going mental over these non Victorian inductees. Think Jake Niall certainly doesn't rate non Victorians who did their best in non VFL/AFL leagues.

Off the top of my head i couldn't tell you much or any of Erins achievements other than I'm sure she won the women's version of the Brownlow.

However, i feel like she was the first genuine AFLW superstar, the pioneer. I remember tuning into AFLW games to see how good she was, and she delivered.

It doesn't challenge me, just comparing her to the other 4 in the photo and it doesn't add up in my books, perhaps it's because I'm not Victorian and her achievements aren't publicised as much as Erin's.

Erin is the absolute GOAT of women's football IMO, 3 x premiership player, 2 x premiership captain, 3 x AA, 2 x Brownlow, 2 x MVP, 2 x Norm Smith just to name a few..........inaugural captain of two separate AFLW teams.

I know our views differ on Daisy quite considerably.

It's a debate not worth having. Even if both girls got in early, it's great for the womens game to have their clear two best ever players enter the HoF.
Play on.

Pearce - AFLW Premiership captain, 3 x AFLW AA, 3 x Melbourne BnF, 4 x AFLW Best Captain, 10 x VFL Premiership player 7 as captain, 6 x VFLW Best and Fairest, 5 x Darebin FC BnF from 2008 has been captain of VFL or AFLW clubs for 14 years.

It's not the AFL Hall of Fame, it's the Australian Football Hall of Fame and Daisy Pearce has very few peers when it comes to what she has done for the game at 3 levels.

Love how emotional Greg gets every time his daughter achieves something or wins an award. Seems like a ripping bloke and great father.

I do think you should be retired for 10 years before getting these honours.
Seems like you retire and a couple of years later you get it.
All of the inductees deserve it though

That's the criteria though right?
The best of the best get in straight away. The next level get in years later.

Not so, this why I said Phillips should be questioned as she retired in 2023 and Pearce retired in 2022.

I understand why, and rightly so, elevated Pearce and Phillips in but it goes against their own criteria. AFL as they do though....

Players are eligible only after they have been retired from the game for at least five years. Coaches, umpires, administrators and media representatives are eligible only after retirement.

He is, not uncommon to have a beer with him on a Saturday and he wells up when I mention any of his kids or grandkids. Him and Julie are lovely people.
