Eerily familiar to the start of the BGT in November last year, it's like our preparation for the start of a series doesn't have us ready to go from ball one. We need a test to get into it.

Question - how long has Michael Di Venuto been our batting coach? How many batting collapses on his watch? How many players have improved their techniques or improved generally under his watch? How does this **** have a job? What a great idea to keep Uzzi and Warner years past their useby date and picking dodgy allrounders ever since Watto left the scene. Absolute basketcase.

A late answer for you LM but still I think these stats from earlier in the month are very relevant and as frustrating as Australia's batting performance is what's happening in this test match is more evidence that we are still very much in a bowling era yet it is a faster scoring one.Lightning McQueen wrote:I guess the Lords pitch wasn’t that bad after all, we just can’t bat as well as we used to and it’s a bowlers game nowadays?

Obviously factors like the balls, pitches, more aggressive batters/more risk taking, less first class cricket/more T20 cricket have all contributed to this trend.
You could get angry about it and blame the players and coaches for the downturn of our batting or you could accept that this is how test match cricket is played in this era/this very good Australian team is on a downward curve as the players come out of their peaks/age out almost simultaneously.
