Maybe 13 or 14. Then Smithfield Old Scholars too if you like.

SHOC, SPOC, PAOC, ROC, Old Ignations, Westminster OC, Pembroke OC, Scotch OC, CBCOC, Trinity OS, Blackfriars OS, St Pauls OS

These are the 12 Old Scholars clubs that function as senior only with no juniors other than the school program.

SMOSH West Lakes are probably more Old Scholar than suburban club but do have a junior program.

Still can’t quite work out the Unley Mercedes thing. Definitely more suburban than old scholar. There was no merge like SMOSH West Lakes, rather they added Mercedes onto their name some years ago presumably to create a stronger connection to the school down the road. And they have juniors.

PHOS falls into the SMOSH and Unley Mercedes, except the school doesn't exist any more. Can't fathom that they don't formalise their ties with Immanuel.

I did overlook them but they would have rated as a special mention like those other 2.They dropped the OS or OC from their name several years ago and other than playing at Morgan Oval I don’t believe they identify as being an Old Collegian club. Bedge could possibly shed some more light. Many years ago Pulteney was a pretty strong footy school but I don’t think they’ve given a s—t about footy for a number of years.

Maybe they concentrate on what schools should concentrate on EDUCATION. Not forcing kids to play in a who cares comp.

Pulteney still have strong ties to the school, they dropped the OS tag to try and be more accommodating / inviting to people from outside the Pulteney Grammar community.

There was also a period where they were trying to get a jnrs program off the ground, also believe there was a period where the school dropped focus on sports and put more emphasis on specialty subjects, which saw their footy program almost disappear, which impacted the flow through of kids.

Feel like in recent years has been more of a resurgence in kids coming out of school footy into their senior program which is great for the Blues.

It's more a religious link which automatically makes it a bit of a Lutheran school link. Fairly tight knit the Lutheran community. They definitely get a few lads who attended Faith Lutheran Tanunda after they move to the city for study/work.

It's more a historical link to the history of the merged clubs (Brighton & BHOS) which is why our legal name since the 1991 merge is: Brighton Districts & Old Scholars Football Club Inc. Since 1991 our constitution also says: to be commonly known as the Brighton Bombers. But that only started to gain traction in the 2000's.

In 1991 the SAAFL already had a club that was referred to in all record keeping as BHOS so it was easier for them to refer to us as BDOS rather than the Brighton Bombers. So we just ran with that for about 10 years until we made a decision to start pushing Brighton Bombers as our major branding.

There's little purpose in trying to link the high school with being a connector school to our club because there is no regular school footy competition for public schools which is a key condition of claiming zero points. Plus we have a full junior program in which many Brighton High lads play for us and qualify as zero points anyway. Putting a team in the Year 9 and Year 11/12 knockout comps each year (which several public high schools do) does not count as playing school footy for the purpose of claiming zero points.

Adelaide is a worse place for not having the likes of Brighton & Henley in the schools competition

Adelaide, Marryatville and Unley are still in it
