You think we will get much play in the first 2-3 days REB?

Interupted play I'd say Pup. It tends to belt down for a while here then bugger off. It's always funny watching the local groundsmen, they know well in advance what is going down and at times make the umpires look like bloody idiots LOL.

When in the Hell is a Touring side going to come to Australia and Be POSITVE and get on the Front Foot and win the toss and BAT 1st ?????????????

Time and Time again we see the tourists win the toss and use the excuse to field 1st (there was a green tinge and a bit of moisture in the pitch) only to see the Aussies Rack up 500+ and presto, GAME OVER.

They are backing the seamers in overcast, on again off again conditions. I don't think this decision is as negative as you think it is. Normally you'd bat first if the sun is out up here (like last year) but I think Murali will be able to 'bowl' well in the current conditions. Also not a bad with a relatively inexperienced opening batsman.

I notice that Ian Healy's not entering into the conversation with Chappelli and Greigy about Murali's deformities. lol

Jaques gets his fifty! 125 balls after 34 to get off the mark - 8x4.
He had a pretty shaky start but is getting better the longer he is there.

Fernando also gets his fifty (none-fer 53 ... hee hee!)

Sending the Aussies IN to bat is a proven recipe for Disaster and this match is looking no Different.
Until Touring teams learn from Others Past mistakes, they will continue to suffer the consequences.

Would an Aussie slipper have caught that chance that Jayawardene dropped off Jacques?

I thought that it was catchable.

Peter Roebuck is giving me the sh1ts big time - only for his referrence to "Murra-lee" instead of "Mew-ra-lee". He is probably the only person in the world to call him that.

Fool.

What's more annoying is the incessant calls of 'no-ball' at Murali.
Boring. The joke's a decade old.

But it's a decade since the joke was told in Aus, DW... Get a gutful of gas and the crowd will take themselves to plenty of ugly places.

the fact is sri lanka arent in the same class as the aussies and they know it- there bowling attack requires some life in the pitch (esp vaas and maharoof who bowl dibbly dobblys) and they are trying to utilise it- aussies are 1/130 i know but sri lanka would have been 5/70 if they batted on this pitch. Bowling first also gives them more chance to draw the game if they cant win it- dont blame the captain- he just doesnt have the cattle

I AGREE with what you are saying Stumps BUT the Fact is most tests are won by sides Batting 1st and the Best chance of Beating Aust is to Bat 1st and Put a Competetive total on the Board. Teams are more respected when they are postive and try to WIN matches rather than be conservative and play for a Draw.
Sri Lanka Should have been Positive enough to Bat 1st considering Australias Bowling attack is a Bit Questionable now that Warne and McGrath have gone.
