This applies to the Women’s comp no different to the Men. And doesn’t matter if it’s a final 4 or final 5. Four women’s Prelims at Mitcham this week. This is the factual reason. It’s written in the league regulations. You are now filled in.

People have to understand that the league has barely made an increase to club affiliation fees for a number of years and this has recently been aided by the decision to have gated "neutral" Preliminary Finals. I think losing Thebarton Oval also a factor. The bottom $ line for around 70 clubs is more important than getting too caught up with where finals are played and the odd curve ball with how its fixtured. There was a time when all finals were at neutral venues. Marion got the chocolates over Kilburn on Saturday after 2 losses to them during the home and away so a happy ending for them. They now play a GF just down the road from them against a team that has to travel over 30km. Swings and roundabouts.
