So because the game is physical that means 'words' like racism and sexuality should be looked at different.

I would almost argue they have an outlet in their workplace for aggression compare that to a heated high level office discussion worth millions and it doesn't go one persons way, there only outlet is the words they use. Thousands of time i would love to be able to just tackle a customer or fellow worker. Instead i have to have a well disciplined, though out conversation being careful with the words i use.

Don’t take me down that path, that’s not what I was saying.

The discussion was that they shouldn’t be known as a “normal workplace “ as they’re not.

Like others has said what is normal.

Is a pilot / surgeon who puts himself and all his passengers' lives in risk with every split decision they make a 'normal' workplace.

I've run a lot of fitness boxing classes. If one of my participants accidently clips me does that mean i can say what i like.

You are missing the point.

And where have i said anywhere, and please quote it, that you can say what you like.

I’m not sure how many times I’ve said Rankine deserves what he gets.

Huzzaaa!

Those still operating in 1986 have no appreciation that the AFL field is exactly that, a work place and most modern workplaces, particularly ones with procedures established around codes of practice simply don't accept anything but inclusive language and zero tolerance of breaches.

My HR manual I roll out to new employees has an emphasis on these policies repeated several times within.

Interesting discussion I heard yesterday on the Sky Sports Sports show about this, current and former players saying that what they do is different to “normal work” as they tackle, hit hard and use tactics to get into people’s head space to gain advantage . None of that occurs in the normal workplace.

Great point!
And maybe, just maybe, Quaynor wasn't offended but they know they can get Rankine out of the finals by dobbing him in, it's a ploy.

Reports that the verdict won't be known until tomorrow now.

Seems Adelaide aren't going to cop the 5 weeks and are pushing back.

Surely that's like telling your parents you're not going to your room when you got sent there, you end up there one way or another so just go.

Wait.

You're saying he should get less of a penalty, for using a derogative term, just because the player that was insulted is of homosexual origin?

Have I read this correctly?

The person saying it or receiving it?

With stories of Ken delaying his payment over the uncertainty of Covid you can 100% say his a man of huge integrity.....many other good stories around about his character as well.

I know he didn't get the final results and it's a results-based industry but too a point i can understand why they kept him as long as they did. Genuinely great people with the clubs best interest at hearts isn't as common as we would like or think it is.

If he was in charge of an RSL or community based footy club I could understand your point

Yeah i dont disagree......

I'm sure though AFL clubs sit in their inner meetings talking about being more like a 'community club' more like a 'family' ect from that perspective they tried to be extremely loyal with the great character they had. Funnily enough us community clubs often try and do things more like an AFL club

Has obviously backfired on them though so they will have to cop their whack.
