Harder to pick than a broken nose this one … in some ways not looking forward to it, and I know what’s done is done, but this matchup in a final should never have been allowed to happen. The fact that their inclusion in the comp is now somewhat ‘normalised’, especially from within the other clubs including the Bays (unfortunately I experienced this first hand), sickens me, although the resistance hasn’t completely died as there are still a few holdouts, as evidenced by this forum. * note: some dickhead created a dedicated thread to whinge about it all, so should have posted in there.

It is what it is. If anything, I guess it’s better to play them in a Qualifying Final rather than the GF, although technically that’s not off the table.

With the AFL finals not starting until a week after, no idea what affect, if any, that has on selections, availability, and more importantly desire, and also what concessions have been allowed to manifest themselves to benefit the AFL sides in the SANFL.

That said, despite a somewhat indifferent lead up to the finals, with injuries and mixed form, the Bays are more than good enough to deal with this opposition if switched on. Don’t care if the margin is 1 or 238, just get the job done.

The loser has the unenviable task of getting into the big dance through the back door*
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

I’m only the administrator of the estate of dedja … my yes be yes, my no be no

I love the smell of naphthalene wafting from Lefevre Peninsula during the finals

SANFL has released the AFL-listed players qualified to play for Adelaide in the 2025 Hostplus SANFL League finals series.

While Adelaide’s AFL team remains active in its finals series, any AFL-listed player is permitted to play in SANFL finals except if they have lined up in Round 24 (including the activated substitute), in which case they cannot play in Sunday’s SANFL Qualifying Final against Glenelg.

This will result in Billy Dowling, Sid Draper and Brodie Smith (activated substitute) being deemed unavailable for selection against the Tigers, they will then be available for selection in SANFL’s First or Second Semi Final on Sunday September 7.

If the Crows’ AFL team is eliminated from finals, as many as 19 of their AFL-listed players will remain eligible to play in the Hostplus SANFL League finals.

For AFL-listed players to qualify for SANFL League finals, they must play a higher percentage of SANFL games than AFL games throughout the year and at least three SANFL games after the halfway point of the Hostplus League season.

Under SANFL rules, Adelaide is permitted to field a maximum of 17 AFL-listed players in each finals match.

Included in the group qualified for SANFL finals is inform midfield trio Lachlan Sholl, Harry Schoenberg and Chayce Jones while Chris Burgess – runner-up in the Ken Farmer Medal – presents a danger in attack.

If Adelaide’s team is eliminated from AFL action, it will need to apply for a permit to have midfielder Matt Crouch and defender Jordon Butts play SANFL in September as they fell short of the qualification criteria.
