Slow Days Play - The Day Pura Cup Died

Postby jackpot jim » Fri Nov 09, 2007 8:18 pm

Well we all know that theres a lack of crowd support at Pura Cup Games But after Todays Play in the 3 matches around the country you couldn't blame any one for not going again except those with sleeping problems. What usually is a vibrant, Quick scoring competition turned into a slumber party today as the scoreboard Attendants struggled to stay awake.

Qld 5/220 (96 overs) V W.A. 2.29 rpo.

Tas 8/200 (96 overs) V Vic. 2.09 rpo

SA 178 (70 overs) V NSW 2/35 (22 overs) 2.31 rpo

Cumulatively it would have to be one of the slowest days of Pura Cup cricket for a very long time.

Interesting observation Jim. What's the cause?

Bowlers too good?
Batsmen not good enough?
Pitches unfavourable?

A combination I suspect - although the Australian team have proven a decent score is possible in Aus at the moment.

Great post JACKPOT
Only 213 runs at Adelaide Oval
But in a strange way it was entertaining
BOLLINGER/BRACKEN were simply too good for the local boys

Just one of those days perhaps
Last game we had HADDIN /KATICH hitting nearly 300 in a session v QLD

May have in some States, have just heard that a guy from W.A. L. Ronchi just scored 105 not iout in the Pura Cup game against Qld. so what everyone says

Did it in 54 balls with 6 fours and 11 sixes, the 11 x 6';s equalling the first class record for 6's in an innings. He and Marsh put on around 150 in 60 mins, They say the Pura cup has died, we need guys like this around

gee a bit harsh........horses for courses sometimes....all games finished with sessions to spare with outright results. The Adelaide wicket was as green as I have seen in years and Qld were 2-10 .
