Port Adelaide has appointed experienced coach and football administrator Andy Collins as the club’s Director of Coaching.

Collins boasts an impressive playing, coaching and administrative resume, arriving at Alberton following four seasons as Head of Development at Hawthorn.

The newly created role will see Collins lead coach development and learning, ensuring coaches are aligned in their approach, while also supporting player education.

Collins coached both Williamstown and Sandringham to VFL premierships, and spent six years in charge of SANFL team West Adelaide, where he guided the side to a grand final in 2012.

As a player, he was a triple-premiership defender in the late 1980s and early 1990s at Hawthorn, recording 212 AFL games before his retirement at the conclusion of the 1996 season.

Port Adelaide Chief Executive Officer Matthew Richardson was pleased to welcome Collins to the club.

“We are delighted to welcome Andy to Port Adelaide,” Mr Richardson said.

“He will be an exceptional addition to support our refreshed coaching group, led by new senior coach Josh Carr.

“Andy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his time working in various football programs across the AFL, VFL and the SANFL.

“In what is a period of change for our AFL group, appointing someone with Andy’s background will be incredibly beneficial as we build and enhance our football program for 2026 and beyond.”

Collins was looking forward to the opportunity at the Power, with the role offering the perfect next step for the former Hawk.

“I’m thrilled to be making the move to Port Adelaide,” Collins said.

“To work alongside Josh Carr as a new senior coach is something I’m greatly looking forward to.

“I’m passionate about developing people, so to have the chance to help a relatively young group of coaches become the best they can be, is an opportunity too good to pass up.

“Port Adelaide has an exciting young playing list and the club has performed strongly over the last few years, so I look forward to seeing them bounce back after a tough year on field.

“I also want to thank Hawthorn for the opportunities I’ve been afforded by the club since I was a player myself. I’ll always be grateful for my time at the Hawks.”

Collins will commence his new role in early November.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Club sent out a member's survey last night.

One of the questions:
How do I feel about the diversity of the Fremantle Football Club's board of directors?

Not sure if it was PAFC's way of not letting me comment on our very own Sovereign Citizen in Wazza, or if it was just a mistake from the work experience kid who forgot to hide the fact he'd stolen the survey questions from Fremantle.

Either way, it was good to see the club is focused on the big issues, rather than worrying about things like how to win games of footy.

3 out of 5.

The rating system further highlights the stupidity of the question.

If I answer 1, expressing disappointment at the level of diversity, how do they know if that means I scored it low cause I want it increased, or did I score it low cause I felt there was too much diversity and I actually want it decreased?

Came out and knocked it back, said it wasn’t the right time for his family.

Then again, we thought Reeves had knocked it back too, so you never know
