Both have 1 premiership.
Both have 1 brownlow.
Both have 8 All Australians.

Danger has 4 club BnFs vs Roo's 3.
Roo has a 2nd AA captaincy vs Danger's 1.

Roo won 4 showdown medals vs Danger's 1
Danger has the chance to go past Roo with a second flag this weekend.

Roo has a club goal kicking trophy whereas Danger has a Gary Ayres award.

Overall fairly similar.

Premiership captain will tip it over to Danger for me if he can get it done.

Danger's ability to burn the ball is almost unparalleled.

Not even close, Riccuito for me. His BnF's came in a start studded team with hall of famers and 300 gamers. Also played all over the ground, half back, half forward, full forward and one of the best onballers of his generation. He did it against couple of the best midfields ever assembled in West Coast and Brisbane

I had the "Danger v Roo" convo with my 20-something lads last night, and all of them almost instantly said Roo.

Given they suffer badly from recency bias, "Lebron is better than MJ, Ablett Jr is better than Sr" (neither of which are true, FWIW), but they all immediately opted for the Roo.

The stats you posted have one glaring difference, Dangerfield lays twice the amount of tackles per game ( therefore you can safely assume twice as many +/- laid on him ) showing how much the pressure in the contest has increased in the last 20 years.

2004 AFL GF Port and Brisbane laid 36 and 44.

2024 AFL GF Brisbane and Sydney laid 64 and 45.

Yeah, it was much more one on one, which you'd think would suit Dangerfield. Wonder if this era would have exposed his disposal inefficiency more?

2005 GF 62-59, nice try. The 04 GF was pretty bruise free, Brisbane were cooked
2007 GF 63-50 despite winning by 119 geelong still laid 63 tackles. I might agrre with you if you plucked some tackle stats from the early 90s but a majority of Roo's career was just as much tackling as now

Not disagreeing but I thought i read somewhere that the 'definition' of what constitutes a tackle statistically has changed dramatically over the years.

Don't need stats to know it's a far more physical, contested game that it was 20yrs ago.

Well; there used to be this thing called "prior opportunity" and "incorrect disposal"
Both of those have gone

Example: Cameron's tackle on Jaspa Fletcher
No reward (from the umpires) for the outstanding chase and tackle
Fortunately, the football Gods stepped in and awarded Geelong a goal out of it

No need to show the 20 examples per game of players just dropping the ball when tackled
dedja: Dunno, I’m just an idiot.
