UK Fan wrote:The Central District Football Club would like to welcome the signing of small forward Josh Ralph.

Ralph, 20, played for the AFL Sydney club UTS Bats in 2025. A product of the Sydney Swans Academy, Josh is talented, hardworking, tenacious, and well-skilled. Ralph is well known as one of the better small forwards currently not playing state league football, and we look forward to his football craft being put on show here at the Dogs.

Football Manager Mark Ross said the Club is thrilled to have Josh on board.

“Josh has a high work rate — he tackles with vigour, chases with determination, and fights to keep the ball inside the forward arc. A superb athlete with speed, balance, poise, and high energy, his ability to hit the scoreboard will be something we look forward to seeing. A handful of SANFL clubs enquired about Josh’s plans for 2026, and we’re delighted he’s chosen the Dogs as his new home.”

When asked about joining Central District, Josh said:

“Hey Rossy, I wanted to reach out and tell you that I’m proud to be signing with Centrals and I am looking forward to donning the red, white & blue in 2026. Thank everyone for making me feel so welcome over the last couple of days — the entire club won me and my family over very quickly.”

We wish to welcome Josh and his family to the Ponderosa.

Given losing Dudley and Gasper this sounds like a good signing for us.

Westies have got a good ‘un in Benny.

We often moan on here about young players not respecting SANFL league footy and going off and chasing the easy coin in the ammo’s and country footy.

Good on Benny for wanting to prove himself in the best league outside the VFL Franchise comp by going to Westies.

He’s a great kid from a great family
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Smart thinking by Burgess telling clubs that were chasing him he was playing ammos so that he could sign with West .
Going to be huge improvers next season.

Well said. I still think sanfl clubs should have a trade period where players have a window of opportunity to move from club to club without a transfer fee. If a trade is agreed to by both parties.

I think it will assist more players continue their sanfl careers.

Interesting to note a poster was ridiculed for suggesting west could easily turn their fortunes around a few months ago on this website.
