Victor Harbor chasing any Southern League players this year? I guess on the flipside, Hodge would be in demand to return back to MV??

The club hasn't and won't contact Hodgey, if he wants to return he is more than welcome.

Taking a few points from your comments Big Red seems to me that you too would preffer D Earl as coach. All praise for him but none for the actual senior coach??? Honestly Early should be coaching S Hill had done nothing as a coach untill he was given an unbeatable team. How did the hawks and shoes perform under him?

Players not picking a coach is a funny comment to. If half the premiership side from the last 3 years wanted him gone or they would leave im sure the club would react. Also one of the best crickets sides in the world has a very strong handle on who coaches them.!!!

Your last comment "but all the lads down there know how lucky they are to be part of the culture and success and wouldnt exchange that for money any day!!" Are you saying that there isnt success down at jervois or any culture???

A few Morphy boys are saying things to keep the club happy but fishing round to maybe join other clubs. I know for certain that Seaton are talking to a few. Also GSFL throwing money at a couple of younger brothers.[/quote]

magic man, not saying there is no culture or success at jervois. the opposite actually!
from the horses mouth " morphies have a better culture and better side to play in" .... its what they say mate.. JUST REPEATING WHAT I"VE HEARD PAL!!!!!!!!!

To say players arent happy and would consider leaving because S.HILL is coach again is like saying Jervois dont pay players( Thats right , its Full Of SH!T).

Players dont pick the coach and i couldnt see why you would change something that isnt broke!

Sammy can come callin as much as he wants, but all the lads down there know how lucky they are to be part of the culture and success and wouldnt exchange that for money any day!!

Pretty sure Noarlunga gave him only 1 year as A grade coach, hardly enough time to build/develop a side, won an undefeated flag as B grade coach at Hackham, the first of 4 UNDEFEATED flags, gee what a shocking coaching record... 6 flags as a premiership coach... Look out Jack...

Mex and the rest of the morphies boys. first is first. Morphies are a very strong club and im not taking anything away from you guys!

But why do you guys always belittle the rest of the teams in your comp. it makes you all look like a pack of dicks to the rest of the teams...... Have any of you even had a beer with the other teams? Or because you have won several flags in a row you think you dont have too. excuses like, why would we want to have a beer at their club as the facilities are shit house! Is Bullshit and dont say you blokes wouldnt think that cos we all know you would.. you may have on field sucess and think that jervois doesnt compare. But one thing you wont see any of the boys from jervois do is ignore other players from the comp, just this weekend. Myself and a few other Jervois boys were having a beer and talking about the up coming season with some Tailem lads. Something Mvale would never do........

Mex: "The club hasn't and won't contact Hodgey, if he wants to return he is more than welcome."

Weren't you critical of Reynella earlier in the year for not staying in touch with its players?

Hodge would be a great inclusion to any side. Surely it is worth giving him a phone call? It could be the difference between him playing or not playing, and at the end of the day you would rather have him in your team wouldnt you? If Morphett Vale is establishing a "we wont call you, you can call us" policy then you must have a lot of depth to cover any losses, or be putting a lot of faith in your development program.

I think M/Vale deserve to be cocky. They have worked hard for their success, from being flogged every week to being undefeatable. Why should they give other teams a sniff?

I'm just making the point that burning bridges with ex-players doesnt help anyone. What if Hodgey was waiting for that phone call, and doesnt feel welcome at M/Vale? Would be a shame thats all...for both parties!

Have quite a few mates from other clubs actually Hills as do most of the current playing group, sounds like you would be quite surprised about the Morphett Vale culture... Regularly have a beer and 90% of clubs i go back to after a game each week... There are obviously players you do not like, as would yourself, certainly in the minority though.

The other 10% would be hackham? ha haha

Fair enough tho.

On the hackham front. Was speaking to a few blokes from down that way last night and they seem to think they have picked up some players. Are the rumours about that money true? I was away when all that talk was up about this and am to lazy to look back. Can anyone confirm?

Different scenario Dutchman, Reynella appear to have not stayed in contact with a player who has made it to the highest level, now that his time is finished they have obviously missed out and were unable to play the "come home" card. Hodgey is a completely different matter, without going into too much detail he has left the club and when he is ready to return he will make the necessary noises, still has a core group of mates that are involved in the club. He is still very young and i am sure he will return at some stage... No bad blood i can assure you...

Fair enough Mex. If there is no bad blood, an occasional phone call cant hurt to see how he is going, and to let him know that the door is always open. It just sounded like you were shutting the door by saying you wouldnt call him.

It doesnt take much to reassure a player that he is always welcome back. I know Morphies dont get involved in bidding wars, and a great club like Morphies can rely on playing for pride in the jumper etc, but someone like Hodgey would attract attention from other clubs, and Morphies should working hard to make sure they are his first preference when he is ready to leave Victor. Even great clubs cant afford to be complacent.

I don't think you've been to many Morphett Vale games if you honestly think that always a decent amount of opposition players in the club after the game! Obviously, like any club, we have teams that we get on better with I know for a fact that a lot of the guys have some good mates at Happy Valley and are always more than happy (no pun intended) to catch up for a beer? Could it be that the other teams think we are cocky because we are confident in our ability and that of the club to get the job done? Seem to remember in the not too distant past a "cocky" Brighton side trashing our away changerooms after beating us! Do you have any complaints bout the current Emus side doing anything like this?

I can see your point Dutchman but to be fair Morphies have a rpetty good record at bringing back players who have left to play elsewhere. Joras brothers last season, think staggy might be back this year etc.

Also in response to someones previous post about M/Vale players in talks with other clubs. It would hardly be a surprise if current Morphies players are receiving calls from clubs who are after their services. The majority of the squad is 25 or under and have won 4 on the trot. Clubs from other leagues would be stupid not to throw a stack of cash at them....but as we've seen so far the lure of playing in consecutive flags with a core group of mates seem to outweigh the advantage of having something a little extra in the skyrocket to all but a very few.

Hey Mex-if some of your players are in favour of Earl ahead of Hill,i can't see you achieving the 5 in a row your so "cocky" about,i think Jervois have a better chance of claiming 5 first,as you won't be in that final game of the year at South Adelaide.Oh if Hodgy leaves Victor,i don't think you'll be getting a phone call.

Who is going to knock off Morphett Vale magic?

Morph Vale will be there if the squad stays the same or even if they lose a couple.

The lure of 5 in a row is enough to keep everyone at home!

Even if that were the case (and as far as i'm aware its not) it didnt seem to hurt much last season.

At the end of the day the coach isnt there to make friends he's there to get results....and you cant get a much better result then what M/Vale accomplished in 2007.

Keep stirring... No worries mate, your entitled to your opinion... Time will tell... Of course Jervois are in the box seat for going 5 in a row before Morphies, they play a week earlier...
