Why did you get a driving infringement?
Are you always in the wrong car v bike?

Haven’t received it yet, will be something like driving without due care or similar because I didn’t stop at the intersection for the cyclist, instead unintentionally hit them. If there was no other traffic, then all good to continue without stopping.

Fair enough too.

Cyclists have right of way regardless of their duty of care?
Albeit, it would appear you are admitting some fault

I know what you’re getting at. I completely admitted fault, something I’d hope most people would do when you call an ambulance because you’ve just knocked someone over with your car.

As I cyclist myself, I doubt I would have been hit if I was the cyclist in the same situation as I would have been aware of the car approaching to take evasive action or to slowdown or stop.

Nothing withstanding that, I can’t escape the fact that I didn’t see her until it was too late and so am happy to cop what I have, knowing that I did everything I could to avoid the collision once I saw her, and then to make sure she got treatment, etc. At the time I had no concern for any damage to my car or what the ramifications for me would be.

Ironically, I just had a conversion with my missus on how anyone could possibly do a hit and run, and old mate Eugene McGee came up.

I've been going of an afternoon, back into the mornings when I'm at my best motivation wise.

*No pull puns allowed

I can totally relate to the motivation comment. I too have been getting up at 4:45am, logging on to work around 5am to sort the day out and do all my reports, I then head to the gym just after 6, get home around 7:30, shower, OJ and a coffee then off to work.

Because I've reached all of my fitness/step goals by 10am it inspires me to double or triple them, I'm more refreshed at work, more energy at knock off time and less likely to chug down a dozen beers on a school night. I have such a better frame of mind, after losing 16 kgs late last year I fell off the bike after one all-nighter and had struggled for motivation since, I put about 4kg back on but it's on it's way back down, still using the 2nd extra belt hole that I had to create......up the good end.

gadj1976 wrote:Total Knee Replacement Surgery

Week 8

A few breakthru's this week and I'm feeling on the way 'up' (finally).

Sleep is getting better. Not brilliant, in fact Saturday night wasn't great at all as I woke up in a fair bit of pain (6 out of 10) twice. I did manage to get back to sleep quickly, which is 1 breakthru. However I have had three nights where I haven't woken in pain at all in the past week. I'm still getting broken sleep, but getting back to sleep is nearly instantaneous.

The second one was that I've been able to perform weight bearing activities on the knee. Single leg squats at home, and leg extensions at the gym. Now, the leg extensions are only 2.5kg x 1 rep but I wasn't able to do this at all for the previous 2 years since I hurt my knee. The single leg squats aren't a full squat, but I am bending the knee a bit.

The third one was that the physio has signed off on me having 'full flexibility'. That means, at 120 degrees bend and 0 degrees straightening (ie, flat) Before the op, I had about 120 degrees bend but couldn't get to 0 degrees.

The fourth one is that now when I'm in bed, lying flat on my back, the 0 degree doesn't hurt any longer.

I never thought after 2 months that this would be so hard but yet so rewarding.

Met with the surgeon this morning. He said that they realigned my knee, and given the arthritis and straightening up of the leg, the pain I'm in during sleep is absolutely normal.

Strength and flexibility wise, I'm doing really well.

A slight change in meds again and within a few weeks I shouldn't have to have any pain relief for sleep.

All positives.

And as a side note, I did my first hiring of a Beam Scooter (the purple ones) in the city today so I didn't have to walk to the surgery from work. What great fun they are!
