Jeez, hope you can somehow sort it out, what a mess, not of your making.

My partners passport is now 3 weeks late and is at the printing stage. Has today to be printed and then needs to arrive in Australia within 8 working days. Sounds like we will have to get her passport delivered to family in Ireland and then get them to express DHL courier the passport to us as the quickest way.

If that doesn't eventuate and our daughter Aoife is going to be classified as an Irish citizen then they are going to need to go to our next stop which was Rome. That means ill go to London for 5 days as planned to catch up with my family whilst they head to Rome earlier than expected and we will catch up there.

However the Irish embassy believe we wont have any problems getting our daughter into England as they won't care for the Irish law, but they would expect the Irish customs to question where her Irish passport is as a citizen of theirs. The ironic part is that my partner is only Irish by choice not by birth as she was born in Northern Ireland.
If she was born in NI that makes her automatically a British citizen technically. It’s all getting very messy over there now

But for some comfort

UK law professor Elspeth Guild

"For travellers embarking on a trip to the UK next week who had British parents but no visible link to the UK, she had some words of comfort.

"Unless the place of birth stated on the passport indicates that the person may have birthright citizenship somewhere else, it is virtually impossible without a detailed investigation to know whether someone is a dual national. This is particularly so where citizenship was acquired through ancestry rather than place of birth."

Nah so this is the technicality......

Being born in Britian or even in Australia for that matter does not automatically make you a citizen of those countries. Mrs Whufc is an automatic british citizen because of when her parents resided in NI ect.

However Ireland is different and is one of only a few countries on the planet where being born in that country automatically means citizenship no matter the circumstances surrounding the birth location.

Here is the laws in Australia

Being born in Australia does not automatically grant you Australian citizenship; it depends on your parents' citizenship or residency status at the time of your birth.

Citizenship Laws in Australia
1. Birth Before August 20, 1986:
If you were born in Australia before this date, you are automatically an Australian citizen, regardless of your parents' nationality.

2. Birth After August 20, 1986:
For those born in Australia after this date, you are only considered an Australian citizen at birth if at least one of your parents was an Australian citizen or a permanent resident at the time of your birth.

3. Children of New Zealand Citizens:
Since July 1, 2022, children born in Australia to New Zealand citizens are also granted Australian citizenship at birth.

4. Exceptions:
Children born to foreign diplomats in Australia do not acquire Australian citizenship, even if born on Australian soil.

5 days to go.......

Irish Passport is currently in the air between Honololu and Hong Kong with DHL express. Cutting it real fine to get here before our very early Wednesday departure.

However it appears the rules have been relaxed somewhat and a current Aussie passport with an expire Irish passport will be enough to get through which we have. Would prefer to have both the current Aussie and Irish passport however.

Dubai airport was hit in the strike. Terminal 3 copped some minor damage and 4 people were injured.

With the Weirdy Beardy looking to have finally been killed it would be hoped for a smooth path forward.

Some ME airspace being opened up slowly and hopefully within a week all is back to relative normality.
Airlines will offer refunds and try to re-route but backlogs will take months to clear. Qantas is still flying direct to London but using the longer route over Afghanistan which adds a couple of hours. Still a lot of air traffic going that way at the minute

Just looked at the current air traffic map of the area, as you say Jim, looks like flights are going through Afghanistan, with Dubai a ghost town.

With the long standing Russia / Ukraine war, there’s only a relatively narrow corridor for flights to fly through now, and with the major Dubai hub too dangerous, it would be absolute chaos.

Dubai and Doha are two of the major ports and they could both be shut for days. Doha sees over 1000 flights per day and Dubai easily double that so there could be up to 100k travellers currently stranded in Qatar and the UAE.
The governments will be leaning on the Yanks pretty heavily to try and establish safe air zones

I doubt whether anything is being ruled out by the Iranian regime, hitting western commercial aircraft included.

There’s no way I would even consider travelling anywhere remotely near that region.

Global air traffic in chaos, oil prices will skyrocket, bombs landing anywhere in the Middle East … all because a conman, convicted felon and rapist doesn’t want the world to see the evidence that he’s also a paedophile.

I'd be careful mate.
The US are probably monitoring this site or Jim05 might go to the US on his 100th trip for the year and they search his phone

Pfft, went to the US last year and immigration at Dulles was quicker than anything we have here. Hand over passport, quick look at picture and waved straight through. No phone or laptop search etc.
I’m whiter than white though so that probably helped :)

I’m not so white so could be in trouble!

Pffft, not intending to travel there in the next 3 years so will be safe after either the orangutan chokes on a double cheeseburger or is forcibly removed from the White House, if he hasn’t demolished it all by then.

We have been looking at going to the US for 4 weeks in October/November but I think we’ll wait until the orange roughie has gone.

Australians are based in the ME and the US are heavily present at all Australian bases especially Edinburgh.
The US will most likely refuel at Tindal again when they send in the Stealth Bombers.
