Played a few games back in the 1930s for West Torrens

Universally known as Tuppence, because of his small stature, he was a legendary junior coach. Around 1950 he coached Lindsay Head at Torrens at Under 17 level and at Woodville in the mid 1960s he coached Malcolm Blight at Woodville in the Under 17s.
He was quite a character. When interviewed, I think by Stephen Rowe, on the occasion of his 100th birthday, he was asked how he was going to celebrate his birthday, Tuppence was asked how he would celebrate his birthday. Tuppence replied "I will drive myself to my local pub, have a butcher of beer, have a bet on the races and chat up the barmaid". I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate a century on this earth.

Is George Kersley related to any of the Kersley families of Harness Racing and Horse Racing fame ?

Not that I know of. Not closely anyway. Tuppence Kersley and his brother Herbie who also played for Torrens were from the heart of the Torrens area of Brompton/Hindmarsh whereas the famous Kersley racing family were from Perth.
Tuppence was given the nickname in his early schooldays by a teacher and was always known by the nickname, never by his given name, George,
