I mean with Tassie compromising the draft for a couple of seasons, now isn’t the time to bottom out.

Your NGA and F/S look very promising if you have enough picks

Your thoughts on the mid season picks Booney?

Have enough picks? This is just posting blindly without doing any research or putting thought into it.

I looked, currently 6,24,26,42,49,60

Cochrane, Salopek and ,Rodan

I think Pilot is the year after but I’m not sure if he is the same year

2026 - Cochrane
2027 - Pilot, Salopek and Rodan

Thanks, I thought other than Pilot they were the same year

Sounds like Port's 2025 actions may not suit the AFL's 2026 draft processes.

Whilst they may have mooted changes they didn't have ( and still don't ) the specifics of those changes.

Ie - Pick 1 is worth 3000 points.

If you have to use no more than 2 picks in the same round and Port use 5 ( 1878 ) + 12 ( 1268 ) - 3146 - What happens to the 146? ( Pick 60 )
Yes, you would get the leftover points converted into a pick so in that scenario yes you would get pick 60 back.
The AFL hasn’t yet decided if points left over can be accumulated or only individually which would be pretty important to know if you have multiple F/S or NGA picks. For example the following year say you need a first for each of Salopek, Pilot and Rodan do the leftover points get combined or are you stuck with getting back 3 picks in the 60’s?
Port might need to tank

Correct.

We won't need too.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I’d imagine Butters will have to be traded to bring them all in and they will get a decent bounty for him if they go that way.
The rule changes aren’t coming in at a great time for them though

He's gone, we know it, we're ready for a haul.

Draft picks doesn't cut it if you are going to be a premiership threat.

I agree with this comment, which McKenna has reiterated several times since;

"In a 2011 interview while coaching the Gold Coast Suns, Guy McKenna referenced an opponent having "3000 games of experience" to highlight the massive experience gap between his expansion side and established premiership contenders.

Specifically, McKenna was describing a matchup against Geelong, noting that the Cats had 15 All-Australians and 3000 games of experience, stating, "we can't manufacture that". "

What he was referring to since that time is that teams that trade 200 game players out for draft picks, don't ever get better. They stay the same. Only teams with 3000 games worth of experience are in contention for premierships.

Butters referred straight to the tribunal

Allegedly said something along the lines of "how much are they paying you?"

Saw the second half of the Port v Saints last night - first time I’ve seen more than a few minutes of PA so far this season.

First reaction is that Port are currently fielding about 6 ‘Lachlan Murphys’……. The crows were no good when they tried to carry one

One of the more offensive things you can say to an umpire. You call us cheats maggots or Cnuts but dont say were on the take.

The exact wording of the reportable offence includes the words Inappropriate abusive and offensive. The last adjective fits.

What is inappropriate is that the AFL have signed off on Footy working for SportsBet even though it's limited to racing only. Yeah no perceived conflict of interest there....

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Going to be a lot of pressure on Dougie, esp off 2 injury interrupted u18 seasons, Pilot has plenty of upside but can he take the next step?

Get a good haul from Butters but Im sure some of them will be future picks, then they take time, I would think it will be 2030 before Port see some on field results.

Use the Butters money to get Bailey in or target another FA.
Can’t see how the Dogs can fit them all in so I’d be going back at them and try to shake someone from there like Freijah

True but if Bailey leaves Brisbane it will be to SA IMO so it’s 50/50

Sticks and stones. Come on, they need to harden the hell up.

My thoughts are, if an umpire heard a player say that to another player, would that be reportable?

The whole thing about the Butters/Foot issue I find distasteful is the fact the ump refused to talk about it after the game with Butters.

I've been seeing this creep in a bit at local level, umpires refusing point blank to even engage with players who approach them in a respectful manner, seeking clarification. Now, to see it at the highest level, it's really disappointing, as respect is a two way street. Just because you have a whistle, it doesn't make you God.

Some of the best umps I've had always engaged in chat, some sledged even, and they were the first to put their hand up if they were wrong. Sadly, this part of the game is going the way of the dinosaur.
