He needs all the practice he can get, even after 30 years of driving!!! Did anyone see one of the most non thinking drives last night??? Manhatten Bridge was the best thing beat since Halwes, i thought i was safe as a house in the run then it all BURNED DOWN with a lap to go, it should have SH_T IN anyone who does any bit of form would have known that Hit The Spotlight is no good and would have dropped off coming 3 wide at the 1000........ and especially one of Forby's, nah one of the most incompetant and over-rated drivers out there of late. Whatabout the FFA?? Where was the driver of BUBALO expecting Roycie to take it?? It took 400mtrs for Ange to pull off the back of the FADING Roycie and then insted of going to the inside to start with she was going to go to the outside of it!!!! I take some of it back about MB that was the 2nd worse drive, BUBALO's was the worse!!!! Now is it just me or is anyone else getting shafted by UNDERTAB with the TRIFECTA dividends of late??????? And name the bloke who could stop the QE2?? Anyone who was on Brother Moon for a good result (ME) can put the blame on CHIEFY!!! At the 200 "Brother Moon is HOME" Those famous words haunt me everytime i have a bet now, thats the 2nd time its happened too!!!!!!

hooch, i can tell you that scd & ridings is not the same person, & i agree with you about the 'caning of drivers' to some extent but firstly remember that everyone is entitled to his/her opinion & can freely express it here (as you have done) as long as it is not personal, it is no different to saying player 1 is soft & the supporters of that team going to his defence etc etc
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Rubbish
It’s not the same footballers are paid by contract .
Trainers and drivers are paid buy the owners
you can have a horse one day and gone the next .

Hooray Hooray for Hooch =D> =D> =D>

A Man of very few posts but very wise from what i've read.
Couldn't agree more with your comments.
People on here continuely canning and rubbishing anybody and everbody when they have never been out there, never will be or wouldn't have the ability to be out there.

Agree some drivers at times need to be questioned or punished but split second decisions have to be made out on the track and people aren't driving a car where they can stop start turn when they want, there 400 to 500kg animals which can have minds of the own.
Very easy to watch race from grandstand or on replay!!!!

I must take this opportunity and say what a marvellous driver Hollywood Harding is.

As for drivers I have had my 2 bobs worth a while ago.
Driving a horse is much more difficult than I ever expected when it was explained to me.
A leading driver told me once about what happens out there and the split second
decisions that are made at times.
Ive had some poor drives on my investments, but as a rule I am satisfied with the
overall performances over the last 3-4 years.
We must also take into consideration that these drivers are driving for pittances.
Pay peanuts and get.... is a saying of sorts.
Low prizemonies = lower credentialled drivers as a rule.

HOOCH has made valid points
BUT
I can also understand the frustrations by others when a driver has cost them $$$$$$$$

My logic is to praise the good echelon of drivers
I marvel at the skills of HARDING/HRYHOREC/WEBstar/SEAL/JONES[but he has gone]
There is another tier of good drivers to follow as well.
As for the others DONT BACK THEM !

Its a fair point that many punters are harsh and such i do not care anywhere near as much about split second decisions such as manhatten bridge electing to pull out when the other horse came, but decisions like angelas where she chose for 200+ meters to stay behind roycie who had worked early ( she would of seen it she was behind it) isnt exactly a split second decision. The fact i havent driven in a race doesnt change the fact it was an average drive.

Scaffidi you caned your own driver last week.
You are a joke
You know all the best drivers are in the grandstand
And you obviously sit there all the time .
You are giving the trots a bad name many people now say they don’t read
the forum because they talk crap out of their pockets .
How many winners or horses have you actually had to train or drive yourself ?
I am not saying that every driver should be out there but you are caning people
that have had years of experience .
Don’t you think that some owners might be reading this and it just might
be enough to make them go to the dogs or gallops.
As you know we have an abundance of new people coming in to harness racing!!!
Is that were you want the trots to go down the tube some more !!!!
But you obviously you don’t care just think about yourselves ?????
If you can’t handle losing you money DONT BET !!!!!!!!

Hooch bring on the violin........... how soft are you!!!! Couldnt give a rats ar_e about these blokes who consistently keep making the same simple mistakes over and over again. Coming from experience, IT IS good to be told when you have F__Ked UP.... reason, you cant learn anything if you know everything. YES it is good to stick the hand up and say "yep i got that one beat" or "Yep mistook the laps on that one......." if you can learn something from a bad drive or know for the next similar situation what to do then LEARNING isn't such a bad thing. BUT these legends don't learn nothing from previous experiences, and secondly if you want to put yourself out there (on the track) and dont expect to be commented on, then you got to get out more and give the barcode collecting up!! Did you know in the racing world they hold a show every sunday morning called RACING RETRO and its fair to say they can blokes all the time or show repeatedly when someone has F__KED up and that show is on the air!! If your a first time owner in the HR industry and are woried about their trainer/driver being commented on on this forum, then they shouldnt be puting blokes like D.JOLLY or H.WETKOWSKI or MATTHEW SMITH on board. and in terms of getting peanuts for driving etc. these people knew what the returns with H/R is and the risks involved. And i don't know where you've been in the last 10-15 years but this forum has only been up for a couple of them, the game has been R__TED for a long time now and not from people canning other people......... People "LOVE THE BU__SHIT" its a known fact reason why more and more people are on this forum every week.

Hooch - I presume you mean these comments about my horse???

As for Sweet Chilli.. thought the horse went good...
The Drive :-# :-# :-# :-# :-# I better not say what I think - the mods may delete my post
Maybe you can comment Strutter....

scaffidi can't drive wrote:I won't say much, it's sometimes better to say nothing rather then say something...
The only thing I have to say is sometimes it's better to pull up stumps when considering owning horses in SA then to deal with some of the things that go on.. absolute waste of time!!
All I will say is Al Trimboli was very pleased with his man P Thomas for getting "Ridings horse beat" and T Brown was very happy with the $9 on offer (given it didn't cost much to find the front ..... either on or off the track.....) It helps when you have Giradi / Brown (Hurrell driving) / Thomas all in the same race....
At the end of the day, it was a $1,200 race and the horse went good...
Drive in my opinion lacked initive, but in saying that - she isn't a horse that can come to the breeze + a few factors were against her last night and these things happen....

I was very disappointed with the result yes - as I should be given I pay the majority of the bill every month... and have for the last 2 years....
I should clarify that it's one of the only time in 2 years that I have been disappointed with the drive in a couple of years... Yet you make it out that I can Wayne every time he drives.. Far from it - in fact between you / Centreman and Smarter then Simmo, i've defended Wayne every time someone has had a crack at him!!

What about the drives with a few of our so called top drivers last night.
Hryhorec’s drive on Wata wata girl
Pulled out with under a lap to go and was gone at the 600mt
Where did he think he was going to finish on that cat .
Great drive S Ewen forgot to pull out Trainer not happy after the race .
Sweet Chilli They don’t call him sleepy Wayne for nothing !
These drivers are in your top 5 drivers ........Bull dust!!!
Keep backing Cool Chip...

Now you have a go at me for being a joke because I have a go at a few drivers - Well how quickly we forget our own backyard and comments made... It's ok for you to have an opinion and no one else??? You would make a good steward or politician

If you want to wait and see why people are turning to gallops and dogs, have a look at the prizemoney.. It costs 1/4 to keep a dog and they are practically racing for the same prizemoney in some / most races and can race more often then a harness horse.. in addition you don't have some clown sitting on board who deliberately goes out there to destroy races....

You may enjoy watching / setting up / betting on fixed or "boat" races... I DON'T...
Whether you like to admit it or not - while the industry is racing for $1500 or $1200, which works out to be about $30 - $45 for a winning drive, these things will happen... It's poor and not good enough - but SA seems to turn a blind eye to all of these goings on...

Recently how often has M Winning / S Mowday / S Ewen / S Forby put their no good horse in the breeze or in front and not handed up to anything and run a space behind the winner?? Or P Thomas coming 3 wide at the bell and getting in everyone's way??? In the last 2 months it's been almost every time they've gone around... That's where my problem comes from - it's these preconceived ideas on how to drive and ruin races.. NOT from split second decisions that are made on the track....

If you want an example...
Friday @ Gawler.....
M Bywater on Control made a bad decision not to pull out at the 600m on Control and then didn't get out because of it (Split second decision = these things happen)
Saturday @ Globe
S Forby doesn't hand up the front to A Calabria on Dr Dre without burning it for 500m first and they both get beaten 25m + 70m... are any questions asked??? (this kind of driving should not be allowed because they were both under the whip for 500m and it looked really poor to those who didn't see the race on Monday   )... Why doesn't Centreman ask us what he thinks about the constant Stable driving that takes place in SA??

Whether you like it or not the local pub / tab goer calls the harness the "red hots" as it is - that has nothing to do with comments made on this or any other forum.. it's an image the sport has due to the amount of positive swabs and drivers who don't give their horse the best oportunity... I suppose you'll start blaming us for turnover being less the gallops next also....

At least in Victoria they are trying to clean it up as best they can with questioning drivers over tactics etc... what are they doing in SA to try and clean these incidents up???

Thanks for that strutter.. 3 things that ruined my weekend, were me horse breaking down, regent shark getting beat and the WAGGA TIPS....
If you believe in the early crow, u shouldn`t be betting and know 1 but paul cav would know whether brother moon was going to beat conte...
Even if conte had got beat it wouldn`t have changed the end result to your weekend........
Congratulations to centreman on jack winning at the valley.. long overdue but he finally got there....
