I know we should've won, but still it's nice to collect a point against the more highly fancied Maggies.

Review

Brian Laws’ Sheffield Wednesday thrashed Southampton 5-0. The Owls went ahead four minutes before half-time as Glenn Whelan thrashed home from the spot after Saints goalkeeper Kelvin Davis had hauled down Akpo Sodje, before Sodje scored himself after 51 minutes.
Whelan added a third four minutes later, while Sodje also got a brace with a powerful strike from the edge of the penalty area after 61 minutes. Burton O’Brien added a fifth a minute later.

Two goals in first-half stoppage time set Charlton on their way to a 3-0 win over struggling Cardiff. Sam Sodje put Alan Pardew’s side ahead before the in-from Chris Iwelumo added a second just a minute later. Zheng Zhi hit the third.

Veteran striker Dean Windass was on target again as Hull cruised past Preston 3-0. On-loan Manchester United forward Fraizer Campbell doubled the Tigers’ advantage before Andrew Dawson sealed the win on 63 minutes.

Another Manchester United loanee scored in the clash between Plymouth and basement side Norwich as Lee Martin put the Pilgrims ahead after 26 minutes, before Paul Connolly and David Norris completed the 3-0 win.

Kaspars Gorkss’ goal after 71 minutes was enough to secure a 1-0 win for Blackpool over **** at Bloomfield Road

Andy Gray was on target as Burnley beat Leicester 1-0.

In the evening game at the Britannia Stadium, Sheffield United secured a 1-0 win over Stoke thanks to on-loan defender Gary Cahill's first-half header.

Bloody unlucky I'd say DW. All Cats for most of the game, then one silly mistake.

Still, Sunderland has benefitted from their never say die attitude this year, and was was only going to be sometime before they suffered from the same .

Cahill's goal against Chelski was unbelievable. don't know if anyone has seen it but a great bicycle kick hit with some venom after some good work beating the defender

The scary thing is if Derby manage a miracle a get a win, we are out of relegation !
Come transfer window if it's still close down the bottom I hope we spend some coin
and try to avoid the trip down to the CCC...

Do they have any $$$ SJABC. Seem to recall they were something like £30m in debt only a couple of years ago. Reckon most of the EPL dosh will be ear marked to clear the debt.

Relegation might not be such a bad thing at this point. Debts cleared, a nice parachute payment for coming down, a strong CCC side which will keep the turnstiles ticking over, and be in a stronger position for the EPL push the following season.

See SJABC, all good news mate. It depends if your glass is half empty or half full

Correct debt was high, and as far as I was aware the push for the Premier League came a year earlier than wanted. The cash will do us nicely hopefully allow the settled board to consolidate, retain the majority of the squad and push for the Premier League once again next season from the CCC.
Derby have a great facility at Pride Park, a great supporter base, so hopefully it works out......

Most Gunner fans seem call Arsenal 'The Arsenal' as above. (I prefer to call them the ****'s, but I'm a little biased  )

Is there any reason for it, or is it just the way it is?

Not sure the reason but it is always how they refer to themselves in their songs.....'1-0 to the arsenal" etc Guess its just moved to how they refer to themselves in general conversation as well.

Le Arsenal i think is more accurate.

Been having a bit of a look around, and the only clue I have is the Gooners song to the tune of 'Go West':

one-nil...to the Arsenal
one-nil...to the Arsenal
one-nil...to the Arsenal

Although 'The Arsenal' seems to have been used longer than this song has been around, so not convinced with that one.

I prefer the alternate version:

More noise in a library, more noise in a library or Highbury the library, Highbury the library

An interesting thing I found was when researching football chants on Wikepedia, there's a reference to Adelaide United and Melbourne FC among all the worlds biggest clubs!

Might not have been able to seperate who was who in the crowd on grand final day...The loud chant may have been laughter

Massive night for English football tonight, with Israel getting the job done defeating Russia 2-1.

England now only need a draw with Croatia at Wembley on Wednesday night. This leaves Mr Mclaren with some huge decisions given Owen will miss with a thigh injury following last nights win over Austria. Does he go with Lampard or Barry to Partner Gerrard, or both using Lampard as a fill in striker? Does he stick with Crouch and give Defoe a crack? Does he use 1 or 2 up front? Decisions, decisions.

Whoever plays, it should be an entertaining game. English fans are going nuts over here tonight. I've never seen so many Israeli 'fans' in the UK!

Knowing McClaren the Cabbage, He will put both Lampard and Gerrard in the middle, (who will spend the whole game getting in each others way and competing against each other), and Sol Campbell up front on his own.
