Which report was that FC?
The report that I received detailed the best performing clubs with no category A reports (including Para Hills, Elizabeth and Pooraka), and Commendable Records.

It also included a break down of my club and the various divisions, but nothing about any other specific club and/or region

Try the Amateur League website, and click on any given tribunal date...
Don't play games with a girl who can play 'em better...

It would be interesting to see what those reports were for, as not all involve thuggery.

That's not what you originally said though. You originally made a blanket statement about thuggery coming from out north. But, to your credit, at least you knew it was stereotypical. ;)

I don't mind dabbing a line now & again

If they are all gone then I will have to retract the above statement.

maybe it could be a toss up between them and Fitzroy. They always seem to play a hard style of footy.

Punky what is your opinion?

Fitzroy (as long as I've been there) have always been hard at the ball.
I think they've always had a reputation, going back to the Renown Park Swans days...
However, I wouldn't say there was any thuggery at the club, just blokes who go in hard at the ball & body.

When did you lob at Fitzroy, Punky ? Were you there in 2006 ? I can tell you, they werent 'hard at the ball' then.
I agree though, they have always had a reputation for being 'hard at it'.

What other types of reports are there ?
Anything , other than time-wasting and abuse, would have to be classed as thuggery.

I agree though, they have always had a reputation for being 'hard at it'.

I lobbed 2 days before the end of clearances, 2006 (is it 30th of June which is the last day to transfer?).
However, due to shin splints, my 2006 season did not result in me playing much/quality football.

Also, in 2006, Fitzroy in general had a horror run with injuries.
We were forced to play players who were not up to standard, which in turn would have changed the perception on our hardness at the ball too.

Come on mate, you've played enough footy to know that not every reportable incident's thuggery. Just cos you hit someone doesn't make you a thug.

Thuggery is deliberate head high tackles and charging and behind the play shots.

But not all charging and striking is thuggery, some is just careless and incidental.

Yeah, you have a point.
Im not sure though if many 'careless and incidental' cases make it to the SAAFL tribunal. I would think that with the standard of umpiring that only blatantly obvious incidents are reported.

Thats my point, successful teams are generally referred to as 'hard', which they usually are.

If you look at the report it gives the total no. of reports for each div for each of 05,06 and 07, you can tell which particular club was in what division over those years just due the number of suspensions..

DW, if you click on the Amateur League website and go into the tribunal section, you can look at who was up for report in any given week this season and also who had suspensions still to serve at the beginning of previous years..

we could be added to the list, apart from one hair brained incident in the last few minutes of the big game this year, we had no other reports i can think of.
so there's another club out north crossed of the list...
i'll put it out there.....
Salisbury west is the only club giving the other clubs out north a bad name and it has done for years!!!!! (sorry to any of those good salisbury west people who do the right thing, by the way the supporters dont help a great deal either)

I think you'll find United has had their fair share as well....

On the other end of the scale... I cant ever recall having any problems with Salisbury, always a pleasure to play, nice ground too, nor Elizabeth (mind you its been QUITE a few years since I've been out there)

Salisbury West is the main one for sure, a few others havent helped the cause at times though - Smithfield and Central United spring to mind, but in reality, are no worse than other clubs. Alot of the northern suburb teams use the perception that they are thugs to their advantage, and why wouldnt you. Eastern Park are one that do it well, very hostile environment, especially for younger players. I remember travelling there to play many times, and alot of our young guys were basically sh!t scared before the first bounce. Game over !!! From memory, no acts of thuggery actually took place, it was just the perception.

certainly eastern park has not done itself any favours over the years - in 2000 we had a player kinghit in the showers and lindsay (?) wasn't adverse to going around biffing folk on the field in their c's and d's and perceptions like that take their time to disappear. the amateur league didn't really give a damn then either.
last time we played them in 2006 there was still some snide acts that ocurred in div 8.
hopefully things have changed though over the last few years
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much
