I would hazard a guess and say that both (along with most others) are just biding their time until the draft is done, to see which positions they need to replace should they lose players and who will be available once it's dusted.

I would imagine the Dog's would be eyeing up 1-3 very good recruits, rather than anything heavy in numbers that prevents their kids from coming through and will most likely lead all other clubs to the prized signatures several will be vying for .. Other clubs will be left to fight over the remains.

Such is their professionalism and profile throughout the land, if the Doggies want someone badly enough I don't think they'd miss out too often.

The Bays are getting a good squad together and the Doggies usually keep thing pretty quiet till very late. Good luck with Perrie you Blue boys, can you fit all those "key forwards" in such a small area?

I think one of the reasons Central have been so successful is because of the way we recruit. Kris Grant has said numerous times that he recruits what best suits our needs to win games at Elizabeth Oval. Thats why we have so many midfielders and long kicking forwards, this is a definate requirement on the very open spaces at Elizabeth. If you can win the majority of your home games you should make the finals.

Do you think that all teams recruit like this?

The chances of him playing in the red, white and blue are extremly poor as country clubs are throwing money at him already.

Is that the Midway whufc?

Yeah, been there a couple of times lately with a couple of mates who live close, one said he saw Adrian in a scuffle there one night.

Maybe the best thing for him is to get away from the club for a while?

Yeah im there most days to look at the sportsbet odds. I don't know or haven't heard anything about a punch-up involving Adrian but it wouldn't surprise me with that place. It would be a top notch quality pub if they could keep the riff raff out.

Back to the subject though, i think Adrian has found it hard coming back to Elizabeth where all his high school mates are, who aren't as sports minded and are doing other things accordingly al la (party party party). I think he might have felt he missed out spending alot of his best years with his mates and his now making up for the missed time.

I guess the AFL system doesn't cater for the interstate players leaving all there mates behind with the schedule of these blokes so once he came back he has found it difficult.

I'm fairly to at least one of his mates and I think Adrian is Adrian, and he's his own man...to a point.

Adrian is a top bloke and I've had the opportunity to have a drink with him a few times and I really hope he can get things back together.

BTW - WHUFC, I prefer to call it The Downsey too!

Not the same since they stopped Friday night karaoke there though! Loved singing Tom Jones in front of the bikers!

In all due respect, as I think Adrian Wilson is a fine talent, but he looked unfit , he gradually waned as the season wore on.
And you say he was hanging around the Downs pub , having a beer and betting.
Then he was dissapointed at being left out of the finals squad
Err........no offence but isnt that what most proffessional clubs would do?
I am a big fan of him and its dissapointing to see things go that way, as far as his footy goes.
If he trained his guts out and became totally focussed and real fit he would never get overlooked, wasted talent playing country footy IMO.

I don't think anyone's disputing Adrian's situation. I think all who've posted about Whoopee here recognise the issue he had this season. And we all hope that he recognises it himself and is able to do something about it, rather than be angry at those who can't do anything about it.

True, but i expect at least another 5 or 6 more. Westies need as many as they could get, and only 4 of them will play league first up.

lbt, i think you'll find it will be closer to 10-14 players playing playing for west first up next year (barring injuries) especially when you consider their coach has seen most of their recruits play & not the local ones

Expect Central to announce the signing of a ruckman from Sydney soon.
Also, there are two 'sort-of' recruits in Luke Cowan and Nathan Steinberner playing next year.
One of the Grima's is also expected to sign.

Bigger news may emanate from Elizabeth soon. With Southport a possibility for a seventeenth licence in the AFL, to avoid having a bye, the AwFuL are looking at the northern suburbs of Adelaide as a possible holder of the eighteenth licence.
Cheers
