BAYMAN
What more can I say, but I will for the 4TH time
BROTHER MOON
the horse was classes above them and only had to be 75% fit to beat them
I declared it as a LATE MAL
_________________________________________________________________

BUT I DIDNT TIP THE OTHER 9 HORSES WHO BACKED UP FROM FRI/SAT NIGHT
AND AND AND HOW MANY OF THE OTHER 9 HORSES WON TODAY ??????????????
**********************NONE OF THEM *************************
__________________________________________________________________

PS if you want to start the backing up theory what about RIOLI LLOYD GOLD
Ran Saturday night
Ran today same race as Brother Moon
Beaten a length, the length of the straight.
The trainer lives in Cowell, did he go back home after the Saturday run ?
How far is Cowell from GDP about 4-5 hours
RLG has probably travelled about16-20 hours in 48 hours

Once again BAYMAN
selective posting on the one horse that backed up and won today
and conviently not one mention of the 9 that ran and lost

Cowell would have to be at least 6 hours dragging a horse behind but there is a ferry between there and Wallaroo now although the horse would be still stuck in the float for the same amount of time than driving all the way.

Mal + Bayman can wage their own war on who can back up and who can't...

I've said it once and i'll say it again - some horses can and some horses can't.....
To me the best break for a horse is 7 - 14 days depending on how it cops work / handles racing.... But they can back up...

Smoken Up - wins at Kilmore beating Ultimate Mark on Friday, backs up to sit in the breeze going 1:58 to win the Horsham mile on Monday... this horse can back up (as many of Lance's horses can)

Ellebony - runs a nice 2nd on Friday night (MR 2:08).... backs up and is disappointing on Monday (MR 2:09 beaten 25m)... this horse can not back up (in the past when it races Friday / Monday it goes worse on the Monday).....

Treat each case as it comes and don't make a big deal out of it when it happens / doesn't....
If you have your own theory - stick to it, but i'll stick to backing the ones I think / know can do it and leaving out those who I think / know can't....
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

The way the horses get driven may have say on whether they have backed up or Not!!!!
SCD is right all horses/cases are different. So back up, some don't!!!!!

Whats all the fuss ?
This has been discussed on numerous occasions
This is a case of Bayman baiting me again on this issue.
He is like a Rottweiler that wont let go.

I selected BROTHER MOON as my LATE MAL
I was concerned about backing up after a hard run Saturday night
I allowed for that possibilty hindering its performance on Monday
However the class, the draw etc were in the horses favour
I honestly assessed this horse as $1-20 fav
Allowing for the backing up theory I then had it $1-40 to win
In the end I backed it and got a quaddie with it.
I also rated RIOLI LLYOD GOLD about $6 in initial assesments
But with the travel and back up had its odds at $15

In the long run in allcodes of sport athletes and aniMALs that back up
must be considered at a level of below absolute peak performance

As for Brother Moon the horse proved that some horses can back up
So my question for Bayman is :

" Why dont they run Brother Moon every Saturday and every Monday?"

One other comment
A very very astute trainer driver once told me that many horses that back up regularly
inevitably burn out and at times lose thier desire to race.

BAYMAN let this discussion fizzle now

first of all that rottweiller quote is my saying & you stole it  now you've highlighted "the other 9 horses" but did they have a realistic chance in the first place ? (i do not know who they are atm) but seeing you've done that we'll have an exercise of $1.00 e/w next monday on every horse that hasn't raced on either friday or saturday & see how that goes

Good logic SCD.
End of story BAYMAN give it up now.

scaffidi can't drive wrote:Agree Brother Moon should win.... but it pulled very very hard on Saturday night and got beaten a length.... length of the straight - if the run hasn't taken too much out he can win...
i'd go one out or look for value without him in a quaddie...

R4 - 1,8 (1 has good gate speed + vic form over the mile)
R5 - open race.. go wide, main players for me are 1,2,4,7
R6 - either one out the 3 or look for value with horses like 5,7,8
R7 - low grade claimers   2,4,8,9 look the best hopes...

Good luck Dutchy and if looking for a bankroll, i'd suggest
R1 - 1 won't miss money and
R3 - 8 should win and 2 should be filling a place...

BAYMAN
SCD has said the same thing about BROTHER MOON as I did.
How about you get stuck into him as well.
