Un-Tapped Gold Mine

Postby whufc » Sun Dec 09, 2007 1:36 pm

Just a thought i have had over the last couple of days, which i think is worth discussing. Centrals who have recruited by far the best this millenium have had unbelivable success from the less prestigious football states of New South Wales and Tasmania.

Players include Danny Hulm, Ian Callianan, Nathan Grima from Tasmania and guys like Heath Hopwood, Paul Scoullar, Radlee Moller, Andrew Hayes and Trent Goodrem from NSW. All these guys have been brilliant in there time at the Dogs and generally have been no-names, who the Central have recruited on a very minimal salary.

My question is, are other clubs paying inflated prices for average Victorian recruits and missing out on bargin buys from these 'lesser' football states?

I think the other clubs should just keep recruiting the way they're going.

Way to take the question seriously... How many of them have had the impact of the players whufc listed? By all means continue with past form though.

I think it's a valid point, exceptions exist obviously but the dogs look far and wide for the right fit for our club and it has reaped rewards in a big way.

Didn't say we were doing it as well as the Dogs, but at the same time you can't say we're turning a blind eye to it (NSW, QLD and Tassie).
