Did we see that innings by Jacob ORgasAM
66
31 BALLS

Im not sure about the batting line up in 20/20 cricket
Symonds carried the team tonight
Needed are batsman that can score immediately and hit 6s
Clark/Hussey/Hodge are better suited to 50 over cricket
In this form of the 20/20 game they are not superior to other International batsman.
If Australia wants to win the next world 20/20 cup its time to
introduce some six hitters
Hayden + Gilly are very unlikely be around also next 20/20 world cup
BLIZZARD/RONCHI/CHRISTIAN/POMERSBACH are suited to this format

Disagree
They have formatted cricket into a time frame similar to
Soccer/Rugby/Aussies rules footy
There is a result in 3 hours
The traditionalists may not agree with this hit + giggle concept
BUT
It attracts a lot of young people to the games
Remember being a schoolkid, all we wanted to do in the yards was smash a six
Thats what 20/20 is about.

ROD me and you being traditionalists luv watchin our 5 day tests + pura cup games
but 20/20 cricket appeals to a lot of people in this condensed format.

I prefer the 5 day chess games, but really enjoy watching these rock n roll game as well.

I love my cricket, am going to all the days of the test and the odi's, but i also really enjoyed last nights game as well.

Was watching it with my kids, the missus (NOT a cricket fan) was even watching for a while as well.

Hilights: Gilly to Oram. "where are you gonna hit this?" "for a 6"

6

"i'm gonna do it again..."

6

Symonds coming in to bowl

"I'm gonna get this *ucker out"

Gilly " You didn't just say it did you Roy"

"is it after 9.30?"

Next wicket, all the players gatherered round.

Symo "i swore on TV"
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Gilly: "You'll be getting a phone call from James Sutherland tomorrow Roy"

Fair catch too by Gilly of Taits first ball
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Thought that the Twenty/20 last night was extremely entertaining.

I am a fan of any type of cricket be it tests, one day or twenty/20 matches. However, I wouldn't want to see this form of the game over saturated during the season. I think the one off games like this and the one game coming up against India at the MCG is plenty of this form of the game for one summer.

Also really enjoyed Gilchrist and Symonds commentary - future commentators in the making! Also thought James Brayshaw did an excellent job as well - I think he should get a gig during the CB series as well.

Each to thier own mal. I think it is a bastardisation of a great game. It's an indication of how the entire world is becoming more and more Americanised. The Yanks have very short attention spans and it's rubbing off on the rest of the world now.

20/20 will not make better cricketers but in fact will remove the need to have any technique or patience and will also discourage people from wanting to become bowlers. I might be in the minority here but it's my opinion.

I tend to agree with you here Rod, that is why I only want to see minimal amounts of the format played. It is fun to watch and celebrates the excellent parts of the great game, but there are many hidden dangers that might appear should we start seeing too much of it played. This new Indian Twenty/20 competition could certainly do more damage for world cricket than good...

In contrast to what you say though regarding bowlers, you only have to look at what Tait/Lee and Co. did last night. I found their exhilarating bowling the most entertaining part of the whole game last night - what 10 to 12 year olds would want to be able to steam in and scare the absolute crap out of batsmen like that?!?

I agree. Symo and Gilly were great. Even Vettori.
James Brayshaw is a fantastic commentator.
However, the others were really ordinary last night.
Taylor and Healy are both duds and what can I say about Michael Slater. The man gives me the shits.
Ian Smith is nothing but an airhead.
Will give credit to Mark Nicholas though, as much as he sounds like a pompous arse, he knows what he is on about.

Personally I'd be quite happy for them to scale back the ODIs to fit the 20-20 in because I find the 50 over game has become stale and dull over the last 10 years. I don't know why but most ODI games bore me these days. To me, if I am going to watch a contrived game that favours the batsmen then I'll take 20-20 over the 50 over games. Both a barstardisations of Test cricket IMO - just that one I can watch from 1st ball to the last after having dinner :D

It sounds like the players are finally starting to embrace 20-20 and take it seriously based on comments by Roy and Mr Cricket

If we had resisted ODIs 30 years ago who knows where test cricket would be now. 20-20 is here to stay we have only scratched the surface rightly or wrongly

I wasn't planning on watching the 20/20 match, but switched it on the tv in the background. Ended up watching and enjoying it, mainly the commentary from Roy and AG. I think these 20/20 matches are great as promotional matches to start a series, with all the hoo-ha that goes with it. That's probably where it should end. As long as Test and First Class cricket isn't compromised.

I share your thoughts on this one RR, even though back in my day I would have been suited to this form of cricket

Taity's display didn't do him any harm. The Aussies bowled really well.
