3rd Test Sri Lanka vEngland

Postby The Indian » Tue Dec 18, 2007 8:01 am

Hey Fellas, When does the betting close for this game today?? Heard on the way to work that S/L $3.50, Eng $7.00 Draw $1.40, apparently the pitch is a disgrace but there is no more rain in sight and there will definately be a result. Surely these are good odds for either side???

Sri Lanka are $3.75 on TAB. They are predicting some rain, but Murali has a good record at Galle and some of their batsmen are making runs. I think Sri Lanka are a good bet.

This was posted on the baggygreen site:

There is rain around, but we will have to wait and see. Historically, Galle is a ground where the covering of the ground, and getting water off the covers, and getting the ground ready has been done efficiently and remarkably well over the years. In Jayananda Warnaweera we have a curator who works through the night at times when rain is a concern, to make sure the ground is ready. Hopefully, he will have mustered his troops this time too and got everything in order to make sure the match starts as scheduled.

I havent given up hope on a result in this game. If Sri Lanka get rolled cheaply and England dont make a big first innings score then a result will look even more possible.

Odds after day 1....

20035 Draw $1.18
20034 Sri Lanka $7.00
20036 England $10.00

Still value the result.... what will Murali do on this deck?

I'm with you grub (is that wise?).

I'd rather back Sri Lanka at $7 than a nag on the weekend! We are only competing against the poms and the weather. Admittedly the forecast isnt looking too good, but if they can get 40-50 overs in each day that might be enough for a result.

Not looking good now..... MJ obviously only batting for time..... worst cricket I have ever seen....we are so blessed that the Ozzies have a dip and attack test cricket at all times..... rain chance is 100% for the next 2 days and with SL just looking to bat as long as poss the draw is almost a cert now.... only chance is if England crash miserably soon....

Thats what you get AG when one side only needs a draw for a series win.... we could see an england collapse at the hands of the chucker... Bad Luck AG... back to the drawing board buddy

Not looking too good with rain predicted for day 3, but Sri Lanka need to win this test to become the 2nd best team in the world ahead of England (dont ask me how that works). Not sure if that will provide enough motivation for Sri Lanka to declare. Only hope is that Sri Lanka roll England very cheaply twice after setting up a big first innings lead. C'mon Murali!!!
