Nunawading is where 70s' player Stephen Parsons came from before he went to Richmond (Got suspended after the Windy Hill Brawl of 1974), then came to Woodville the year after. That's all I can tell you about Nunawading.

Nunawading are in Div 3 of the Eastern Football League in Melbourne. Div 1 is very strong - the best suburban league in Melbourne (along with the VAFA, which is private school oriented). A reasonable smattering of ex-AFL players. But Div 3? He must have grown up there and they must be shelling out good bucks.

Yeah Nunawading Spectres from 1979 -1986
Eastside Spectres from 1987 - 1991
Merged with the South Melbourne Saints in 1992 to become South East Melbourne Magic.
(The South Melbourne Saints were known as the St Kilda Saints from 1979 - 1987, changed their name to Westside Saints in 1988 to 89 before changing their name to the South Melbourne Saints in 1990.)
Its enough to make your head spin!

then they emrged with the North Melbourne Giants and become the Victorian Titans then back to the Victorian Giants. I think that they are part of the Southern Dragons now.

South Dragons (correct name, I believe) are a completely new entity. I would think, however, they would be looking to draw the same constituency as the Magic, of which Nunawading is a part.

Well Nunawading would be spewin! Bello has done his knee just before the season was about to start! Will miss the whole year. Wonder what his payment plan was and how its gonna affect the club paying for a gun player who will sit the whole year out.

Bad luck for the bloke ... Used to piss me off no end, but that tends to be the feelings toward quality opposition players, hope he recovers well and gets back to it next year

According to what one of the Gowans said on radio recently he also lost his job as well. He must have kicked a bloody big black cat after he walked under that ladder trying to pick up the broken glass from his shattered mirror! Seriously bad luck but I'm sure he will bounce back.

Yeah it's really sad news for Marco.
Devastating.

As for the Nunawading connection, Marco is originally from that way I think.
His sister, who was a basketballer was playing ABA here in SA for a while, and I think she transferred from Nunawading as well.
