Dunno mate, I can't recall which pub it was.

I used to live just off of Brunswick St, and I frequented heaps of pubs on that street, and I can't recall any of their names either.

Ahh.. there are so many different worlds out there...

The last time I was in a pub was the Port Dock with a friend who lived down that way in 2003, and the time before was the Wilpena Chalet at 3am on a Sunday morning in 1976, with my brother-in-law, who taught at Hawker then.

I've lived in Melbourne since 1999 and haven't been to a pub here at all. I have been to some nice restuarants though.

Melbourne was getting flooded with Tooheys at that point and it was nice to be able to get a Pale of any sort. Some pub in Richmond used to have Pales (Coopers) so I ventured out there quite often to have a few on a Sat arvo.

Correct timing - about 2001. It was actually Smith Street, Fitzroy (Collingwood is technically the east side of the street) and mighty_tiger is VERY close with the Birmingham. It was a place called Barbukka (still there) which has live music, although I had had a couple on the way to a finals match one night at the G.

The Birmingham, by the way, used to be (probably still is) a bit of a neo-Nazi haven. They'd have VERY hardcore acts rehearsing in their back room on a weeknight and I even saw a poster stuck up in Smith Street urging people not to frequent it due to its Nazi connections. You see some pretty full on people in there when you walk past. Never been in there myself.

Whilst reduced packaging sizes gives me the tom-tits, I agree with the statement that with vegemite, you should buy the big jar and be done with it. What use is a little jar of vegemite? Would be lucky to see my family through one breakfast sitting.

If you're on your own and don't use huge amounts, the smaller jar makes sense. The texture tends to change over a long period of time. And holidaymakers are hardly going to pack a family jar or buy one when they hit the caravan park.

Bump.

I was speaking with a Taswegian guy the other week, he reckoned that there was a huge uproar about this in Tassie, and that because of this Cascade reversed their decision and is now producing 375 ml premium lager stubbies - for sale in Tasmania only.

I checked my local bottle-o this week, and the stubbies here are still the lower size. I used to buy Cascade lager frequently, but I have not touched the stuff since the abovementioned "price rise by stealth" took effect. f*** 'em.

375ml Cascade will be rolled out when the 330ml stock is exhausted according to my fosters rep.

It's only Cascade Pale which is reverting back to 375ml, I believe.
