If Todd Grima does go to the power and goes one or two in the mini draft i have it on very good authority he will immediatly ask the power for a transfer stating settling in reasons for a move to central with his brother.

I'm not sure the other SANFL clubs will agree to it though. Will be interesting to see what happens if he gets picked up by an SA club on Tues.

I hope if the favour Port ask falls at North's feet they don't expect a positive reply.
They should be safe but could risk shooting themselves in the foot.

I seem to recall that we did okay this year despite not having named any recruits by this stage of the last year. Besides, we are one club who believes in fostering local talent.

I disagree, I thought Callinan, Slattery and Grima were all pretty handy players for the Dogs in 07.

You kidding?

Callum leaves me for dead, that'd be the one club I'd never get a gig, Callum's photography work is awesome.
JMO talked about not comparing people and he and I should never been compared, his work is professional.

Yes, but I seem to recall that we signed these players in January - it is not January yet.

This may be true, but with the only major losses of Grima, Obst and Slattery and the gain of Faulkner and the recovery of Cowan and possibly Stienberner and the comeback (if body willing) of Luke McCabe, we may not need any major signings. With some juniors coming through who will get their chances it might be a light period for the dogs.
I think a ruck man is their main priority, they cant rely on Giles and Griffen.

Bzzat wrong again. They were named on the "Central District Ins/Outs as of 13/12/06" thread. Also reported on Footysa as official Ins and Outs mid December. Even the Advertiser reported it January 1 hence showing they signed in December. Grima was announced on the CDFC website in November 06 as a signing. Messenger 13/12/06 announced Slattery as a signing for Central. Need I keep going?

Ahhh, but they were not officially signed by the club as early as they were listed on Footysa.

Grima was signed in November, Slattery in December. Both were officially announced by the club in November and December.
If you don't believe Footysa then surely this site, the Advertiser, the Messenger and the CDFC official site mean something to you?

Grima, Slattery and Callinana were all named as recruits by this stage of last year by the CDFC.
Crikey, its not rocket science.

Devils' dynamo moving to SA
Article from: The Mercury

DAVID STOCKDALE

December 22, 2006 12:00am

THE Tasmanian Devils pocket rocket Ian Callinan has signed a one-year contract to play with SANFL club Central District.

Callinan last night confirmed his move to South Australia after Christmas, but denied it had anything to do with the arrival of new Devils coach Daryn Cresswell.

"I wish `Cressa' and the boys all the best in the VFL next season," said the 2005 J.J. Liston, and Alastair Lynch medal winner, who missed his last chance of playing AFL footy when passed over by the Kangaroos in the recent rookie draft.

"My move has nothing to do with that.

"It's about making a future for me and my family.

"I had six great years with the Devils, but the money in SA is pretty good and Centrals have promised to help find jobs for me and my wife Lauren."

Callinan, who was wooed by a number of other cashed-up SANFL clubs, said he had taken a leaf out of the book of his wife's father, All-Australian player Des James, in making the move.

"Des took the punt to leave Shepparton and try his luck in Hobart in 1974 and ended up playing in three TFL premiership sides for Sandy Bay," he said.

Central District has been the SANFL success story of the new millenium, having won five premierships between 2001 and 2005.

Wedgie, I will happily concede I was wrong. However, at the same time as those players were mentioned as recruits (both here and on the CDFC websites) so were a number of players who did not end up at the club. I prefer to wait for the official announcements.
