TRUE many punters in that crowd would be pissed off if they backed BM
The punters who backed Mister Albert for a place would be pissed off
The punters who backed MENDACITY would be upset if BM, was scratched and
lost about 40c in the $$$ of thier betting tickets
The punters who got the tRifecta with BM being placed would be upset
The people who had BM to win in Trifectas also upset
Punters who had BM in the quin were happy
It can go on and on, depending who backed what

But Im with you BAYMAN its the punters who lost on BM would be screaming foul
If you backed MENDACITY and cooped the reduction it would be acceptable

One inexcusable unescapable fact

Soooooooo many IFs can we now understand what the stewards had to face up to.

BAYMAN your like a ROTTWEILER that refuses to let go

I AGREE BROTHER MOON SHOULD HAVE BEEN DECLARED A NON RUNNER [the moral decision]
B

In doing that BM owners concede $1155 in prizemonies

And I will answer that question
IF Top of the "Far Kew." ran 5th or 6th that would mean BM prob. runs 2nd anyway.

I WILL let the stewards or club explain thier actions before commenting further

So if BM wins the problem ficticiously goes away.
So BM, can win but according to you cant lose as well
Thats the best EW certainty of all time going by your logic

so you agree that it should be a non runner yet you argue the opposite :? :? :? this is the wrong decision & to go further you say best e/w certainty of all time but just remember this if top of the kew struggled & went back brother moon would have got a big start on mendacity & i doubt it would of picked him up, i know all this is hypothetical but justice was not done on this occaision mr malrottreillor

I think I have the solution for the SAHTC
The BAYDUCK MALLEWIS rule

When a horse is deemed not to have a fair start, despite the starter not declaring a false start
A that horse MUST be scratched by the steward/stewards
B all betting on the said runner are void, all bets refunded, reductions apply to all dividends
C that horse can still collect the prizemoney.

UNFORTUNATELY AS HAPPENS TOO OFTEN IN THIS WORLD
Because I thought of it it might never happen
IF the SAHTC thought of this it would be passed almost instantanously

Im now going on my 2 km run now, when I get back in about 6 hours I will read the replies.

I'm not weighing into the starter / Brother Moon incident...
I backed Mendacity and i'm happy it was declared a starter..
The only thing I will say is that while we have humans starting races - mistakes will happen from time to time and as it happened on dispatch.... could the starter see it in time??

However I want to give a =D> =D> to the stewards on suspending T Calabria from Metro racing for 6 months... His driving has taken a severe turn for the worse since his "split" from the Golden Grove team and having the number of suspensions in 2 weeks he had (yes he is to appeal a number of them) and still knock blokes over shows no regard for the punter / owners of other horses and more importantly (and i'm sure Strutter / Centreman will agree) the safety of his fellow drivers.... If anyone wants to ask Matt Harding or Terry Brown about race falls - i'm sure they'll tell you how much better off you are without idiots knocking you over - just for fun!!

why would you suspend a bloke from metro meetings & not 6 months EVERYWHERE :? :? :? :? another baffling decision, maybe i should rob a bank & tell the judge this & see if he lets me serve my time at home
ps, more stern penalties like this may get rid off the 'riff raff' & perhaps the driver that scd is on about is getting instructions from 'the grandstand' rather than from the trainer ?

He has a total of about 3 months worth of suspensions to sit out anyway....

Driving and Training isn't quite the same, but trainers who break rules the first time / second time etc get smaller penalties, so same should go for driving..

After the 3 months he will have off - he should be able to drive @ friday / monday meetings to try and give him a chance, to see if he has learnt....

However I would agree that If he keeps doing it - then he should be suspended for years and years (like Matson was for filling horses up) = both are forms of deliberate cheating....

LINCOLN MOORE
ADVERTISER
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 2 2008

PROTEST PUZZLE
________________

Saturday nights Vet Surgeons Cup protest left a few punters baffled in the betting ring.
Initially it was thought the protest by Brother Moons drive Paul Cavallaro was against the start
and, after it was upheld, left many questioning why the horse wasn't scratched from the event.
But Cavallaro protested against Top Of The Far Queue, who interfered with him at release point,
rather than the start itself.
Stewards subsquently lifted Brother Moon into second place with Top Of The Far Queue relegated to 3rd.

MAL SUMMARY
Starter made a boo boo [can happen he is human]
And $1155 prizemoney is far better than being declared a non runner

guess who was one of the punters talking to the lincoln 'hot rod' moore, ? no problems now seeing it was a 3rd v 2nd protest which means the right decision was made & it also proves the illustrious centreman correct when he said jimmy jacques would probably have got the wrong message when notified of the protest

hey mal, did you here the guru's on the trotting show this morning ?
1, paul cavallaro was given the choice of either being a late scratching or being elevated to 2nd, mal was right 'he' took the money but i know he doesn't punt so he'd make that decision but i wonder what the stable punters think ?

2, the guru's stated that the punters should have been protected & the horse made a late scratching

3, i'm very disillusioned with this whole situation & i'll go & watch them for the next couple of weeks (seeing there are better quality aniMALs going around) but they will not be getting any of my turnover & i'm seriously thinking of giving it all away because as a punter i EXPECT to be protected & this is not protecting the punter

4, at the gallops if a horse is denied a fair start what happens ?

5, this is another reason(s) why people think the trots are crook
a, it looks like rafferty's rules
b, the driver given a choice as to what happens....he should be told the outcome
c, how many people that don't go or watch trots very often, would go/bet again ? not many if any

6, g.lalor & co = DISGRACEFUL (NON) DECISION & i may have had my last bet on the trots, definately NOT BETTING THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS

7, this is about FAIRNESS not talking through my pocket as i had brother moon PLACE in an allup
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Have to agree with you BAYMAN
Cavallaro was given a choice and took the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$[but rightfully]
He has some sort of obligation to collect the $1155 prizemoney for the connections.
BUT
From a punters point of view this was a disgrace as the punters who backed
the favourite Brother Moon to WIN were comprehensively robbed.
Even though BAYMAN /MAL have backed BM for a place it is still wrong MorALly
This instance does nothing but give punters insecurity when betting.

ANOTHER HYPOTHETICAL

This was race 5
First Leg of the quaddie
Imagine the punters who spent on the quaddie
If they had BM by itself they have done thier $$$$$$ cold
If it was scratched they would have latched onto the sub the winner MENDACITY !!!!

As I have said
Let BM collect the prizemoney[keep connections happy]
Make BM a scratching [keep the punters happy]

Bayman

It is a rule of racing at the gallops, that should a horse run first, second or third in a race it cannot be declared a non-runner.
Siri Nelg. (Al Hareb - Lyric Star by Bletchingly). Trainer A Krushka. 93 starts- 7 wins - 19 placings. Career Earnings $215,235. By Geez he was a good horse, just unlucky.
