2008 Australian Summer - Tennis

Postby Plunge Penguin » Sat Jan 05, 2008 5:09 pm

Thought it was worth keeping all tennis related punts in the one forum. Given the Adelaide tournament is near its close (took Niemenen at the start of the tournament at $11, at least getting a sight for dollars), the Medibank starts today also.

Like Ana Ivanovic at the $6.50 on offer. Henin bit too short at $1.80 I'd think. Don't be surprised to see a good run from Golovin at $15 also.

On the men's side, Blake at $6.00 is fair value - generally plays well in this one. Berdych also at $6.00 worth a look, and don't discount Radek Stepanek at $34 - not forgetting he withdrew from the first round at Adelaide due to heat. Should be fairly fresh.

Will post Aus Open a little later also. Over to the stable!

Lost out on Blake in a big shock, but Stepanek in from $34 to $14 so far.

I'm normally reluctant to say things are "big specials", because we've all seen those before!! Reckon tomorrow, though, there is one that is worth unloading on - Henin to win the Sydney women's final in straight sets at $1.43. Know it's short, but 43% is a lot better than bank interest and a fair bit easier :) :) :) :) :)

Add Radek Stepanek to beat Chris Guccione in 3 sets tomorrow at $4.10, and that should give a fair start to the weekend...hopefully!! ;-) ;-)

Oops...the last one went astray but time to get serious about the big one now. Some of the game odds are up and a few are silly and short. Will try to put out 4 games each day - two strong punts, 1 roughie and 1 real outsider to give a sight.

Will hold until tomorrow before posting all of day 1 tips, but one that is interesting is Carlos Moya at $1.38 v Stefan Koubek at $2.85. Wouldn't want to take too much less on Moya.

Last year made a killing on the Australian open especially in the first week where you can get 5 to 6 legged multi's up quite regularly. Im gonna start with a small $20 multi for day one with
-Robredo -$1.28
-P.H Mathieu -$1.28
-Gicquel -$1.65
-Nieminen -$1.25
-Wawrinka -$1.38

$20 investment to win $93.25 (possible profit of $73.25)

The 1st week of the Majors is definately the way to go.
I prefer to keep my multis to groups of 3 or 4 as theres nothing worse than getting say 5 out of 6 up and finishing with bugga all.

Still studying the draw at the moment. :D

agreed the first week of grand slams is the way to go if you like them (most) very very short, & with tennis betting i'd suggest just bet on the 4 grand slams as with the not so important titles there seems to be a lot of upsets & i have always thought that cheating was going on & now there is some evidence to say it is very possible, but i'll stay out of it apart from maybe backing federer as he seems almost unbeatable, i don't mind watching the girls matches well with some of them anyway, most of the russian girls

Most games are out now, and some fairly narrow odds as expected - probably not much point in backing the likes of Federer or Henin at $1.01 (worse than bank interest!!!), but there are some early games worth a look. Will try and avoid games at less than $1.25 to give some return. The roughie must be over $1.95 (in other words, not favorite) and the bolter at $3.00 or above. $10 per best bet, $5 per roughie and bolter.

Have narrowed them down to the following:

MONDAY: Best bets:
- Mens: Igor Andreev over Andrei Pavel at $1.45
- Womens: Alicia Molik to defeat Kaia Kanepi at $1.38

Roughie:
- Kateryna Bondarenko over Aravene Rezai at $2.35

Bolter:
- Frank Dancevic over Jarkko Nieminen at $3.60

Day one outlay: $30

1st round match between Clement v Schuettler.
On Betfair they are betting 2.00 Clement and you can lay Schuettler at 1.99 or back him at 1.97

Im not a fan of either player but I believe Clement's form is superior to Schuettler.

what i'm saying is the tennis players that cheat (if proven) are worse because its not like they're desperate for the money it'd be more like doing it to pay for their tax or similar & there is not much if any cheating going on anymore at the trots although team racing has become a regular occurence but there is a huge amount of incompetance going on out there, just go back to gina bells drive on legendary kid on monday that was just disgraceful
