In the B grade Ironbank had a big win over Bridgey, Mt Lofty won by 10 against Onkas, Hahndorf won over Lobey and Blackwood knocked off barker. In the Senior colts Ironbank belted Bridgey, Hahndorf got up by 7 goals vs lobey, Blackwood held off Mt Barker by 20 points, while Mt Lofty finished fast to pip Onkas by less than a kick. In the jnr colts Ironbank, defending premier Mt Barker, Onkas and Hahndorf all recorded victories.

exciting finish to mtlofty onkas senior colts match on the weekend.

The strength of blackwood in hfl juniors is usally a given, with the large amount of players they have at their disposal. this has certainly been obvious over the past copule of seasons! intertesting to see if things change, particualry with the number of other clubs who are struggling to field colts sides. should they be fielding sides in a city competition instead?

Hey guys, what about the mighty Kangarilla. The guys have more than displayed they will be around the mark, running the Lions foreign legion to one straight kick and then giving Gums a hiding - as a top side should. They have some good runners, and Trent Thorpe, Wakefield and Kennedy are all real guns. Also a pretty astute coach in Wayne Stringer who obviously knows what the go is. Must say he seems to have settled in smoothly unlike his sibling. Apparently all not well in the dog house at Balhannah, with Alan rustling more feathers than a shot gun in duck season! May be the first game was a furphy, but for the Dogs (and the coach's) sake, things must improve! Must have a good side if Blake Norton, Dingo and Dicko can't get a game in the seniors. Discipline is one thing, but .....

Yeah, you mite be onto something Robby. Heard the coach has instilled a bit of a hard line at Balhannah, sort of 'my way or the highway'. Perhaps a bit tough and unexpected in a club where the culture has been a bit lacking in that mental toughness in recent times. Haven't won a final for a few years, despite a top three finish. Is the coach always at fault, remember Bond, Collins, Thommo and Heinrich - all reasonable coaches (perhaps a rain check on Troy!) but have failed to bring home the bone for the Doggies. May be Allan Stringer came bring that next dimension. Still a bit hard to judge after one round, Devils were pretty good, but Onkas missing 'Farmer', Coffey, Kerber, Schulz, Goldsmith, Pizzata etc. from 2005 side while P. Tanner, Norton and Smith running around in the Magoos. Shee looks a good pickup, but needs a bit of help. Don't write off the side just yet though, the show ain't over until the fat dog howls!

kangarilla

Postby lion heart » Fri Apr 14, 2006 2:18 pm

kangies will take out the div 2 hills comp easily in my opinion .... they are coming from a stronger competition and even though they finished about 10 th last year will make a huge impact......good strong club with proud history and it will be interesting to see if they will step up into div 1 if they do take it out .... hills div 1 is obviously a very stong comp

grumpy danny lackenby is from the southern league previously playing for christies and reynella ...he was a star junior and sat out a couple of years i think but has been with the barker roos for a few seasons now and is regularly in their best players and goalkickers

Country Division
Gumeracha- Craig Jardine if it is the same person this is the second time he has coached the club and he was usless the first time.

Torrens Valley- Garry Hughes played under Gazza top coach good to see him and Torrens Valley win the flag last year. Gumeracha was stupid in letting him go.

To the rumours about ruffled feathers at Onka Valley, did anyone expect anything but a "my way or the highway" attitude from a coach who has been successfull with that before. I would say look out when the feathers settle!!!

See a poster on this topic and a few of his cronies got a guernsey in the Sunday Mail on Sunday due to the fact that they were at Oakbank on Saturday, taking a respite from their usual duties with one of the Country Division teams.
Crikey, A few of them must have a few brownie points in the bank to have been able to get out for the day

Grumpy, I made a post about Ormond Allen in regards to his situation for the year a few pages back. Very interesting if the club is actually aware that this is the case.

Re: Stringer at Onkas. Must be a strong rimour, I heard it too over the weekend.
If you don't train you don't play A's...is that too hard a line?
Bridgey will win a few games at home. To be expected. I know a few lads over that way but haven't heard much about events etc for their 50th year. Anyone?

Raymond's coaching league team.
I really don't know much more except that ormond Allens there, but the rumours were that it may not be all season. Although, I don't know why Hahndorf would do that...
