Who has the noisiest fans

Postby johntheclaret » Wed Jan 09, 2008 11:32 am

After a recent survey on who are the noisiest fans in the EPL there are a few suprises in the table.

I have no idea how they conducted the survey, as I'm sure there would be a lot more noise in Spurs v Arseanl game than say a spurs v Wigan game, but anyway here is a taster.

I will post the table tomorrow. *It's based on decibels, by the way

This is a snippet
1 Cats
2 Spurs
..........
17 Liverpool
18 Man U

By the way, here is a list of games and goals ground by ground, which may have something to do with the noise level at Spurs

Very surprising stuff Johnnyboy!!

I recall sometime in the last 3 years, Liverpool fans being rated 1 in some form for either best or loudest (actually you would have to think loudest lol), but it really does surprise me that the heavyweights (in terms of supporter numbers) are so low.

Funnily C_P, Sir Alex was on the telly saying how Old Trafford was "like a funeral" in the game against Birmingham not too long since.

One comment I heard tonight, is that maybe the bigger clubs are now expected to win so the fans become complacent. Emirates came in for some pretty heavy criticism

Wouldn't look anything like this JTC? (From page 9 of the 'Latest Results' thread)

devilsadvocate wrote:I found some stats on the loudest Premier League crowds:

1. Sunderland (129.2 average decibels)
2. TOTTENHAM (128.3) – Super Tottenham!! We’re in the top 4 of SOMETHING!!! COME ON YOU SPURS!
3. Man City (127.4)
4. Villa (126.5)
5. Everton (126.1)
6. Chelski (125.8 ) – Roman, how much did it cost you to get on this list?
7. Boro (125.4) Huh? – with their half empty stadium?
8. Derby (124.7) – Gotta hand it to the Derby faithful. They’re a very well supported club.
9. Geordies (124.5)
10. West Spam (123.8 )

Notable absentees:
Portsmouth – Their fans always seem to make stacks of noise, drums, whistles etc. Benjani – oooohhhhoohhh, Benjani - ooohhhhooohhhhh
Arsenal – Highbury the library!
Manu – Cake holes full of prawn sandwiches!
Liverpool – Thought the Kop with their renditions of You’ll Never Walk Alone would be high on the list – not even in the top 10!

I was thinking about it though and the decibel levels could have something to do with the layout of each stadium. Ie - Stadium of light, City of Manchester stadium and Stamford Bridge are all like a bowl (although so is Degenerites, so doesn;t say much for Gooner fans!), while White Hart Lane and to a lesser extent, Villa Park have tall, closed-in stands bringing the fans and noise closer to the action.

What about the quietest fans JTC? I'll nominate Fulham. I think they must just pre-fill Craven Cottage with blow up dolls, as their fans seems to just sit in silence. They haven't had too much to cheer about this season though I guess.

Would be interesting to see the full list if you've got it!

I knew Man Utd would be there, but I expected Liverpool to be closer to the top. Is their low position a result of their ordinary Anfield form? ;)

Great effort to see Sunderland up the top, they are only noisy because the legendary Keano threatened to two-foot hack them if they stopped singing.

Are there any recordings taken from the Coke league? Would be interesting to see where the Bluebirds stand.

Lucky they didn't take a noise reading of tonights game.
How can a half empty stadium of shite make more noise than at least 8 other prem teams is ridiculous.
These noise-ometers or whatever they are called are a total waste of time.

The Stadium of Shite is going bananas at the moment though, with a brace to kieren Richardson seeing the Black Cats lead Pompey 2-0 just prior to the half.

Impressive.
