Glenelg bike race - parking

Postby Sploosh » Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:47 pm

Thinking of going to the "Tour Down Under" this Sunday 20th Jan at Glenelg. Seems like the race starts at 7pm, although I'm sure there must be stuff to see/do beforehand.

If you're going, what do you intend to do about car parking?

I'm sure there will be car park problems with a huge crowd expected, so I'm trying to think creatively beforehand. Any suggestions/ideas? I guess a tram would be convenient, but still have to park the car somewhere, and perhaps the trams will be bursting with people anyway, and not pick-up mid-route?

Hope he gets a parking ticket
And we all know the Glenelg council loves giving infringement notices

the inspector working on a sunday !!! decided to book my car

the home owner tried pleading with the inspector explaing the situation the inspector repile with " if someone is walking down tand walks into the car then the council is responsible "

my reply" mate i have lost a nut and ur worried some 1 will walk into my car "

We tried to take the daughter to Wiggly Worms today. Couldn't get near it - road restrictions had Anzac Hwy blocked off well before midday. I s'pose the place itself was shut, since there was no way anyone was getting a car within 100 metres of the place.

So we drove up to Henly Beach instead to get some icecream. All the way there, we saw pack after pack of gaudily coloured spandex clad tossrags riding triple-file enroute to the Bay. So I figure Glenelg would have been best avoided today. Every lycra-bedecked cycling poonce in the city would have been there, sipping their trendy lattes, thousand-dollar cycles stacked ten deep in front of the cafes...
