I agree with your comments with regard to night matches in the opening rounds.
However, I don't think there should be a strict format for night fixtures, ie 2 night games per round. Rather, night games should be used primarily to maximise variety in the fixture, and maximise opportunities to avoid clashes with other SANFL and local AFL fixtures.
Generally speaking, i'd like there to be on average 3 matches per round played at a different times on the weekend, preferably 4, to enable general SANFL followers such as myself to attend as many games as possible.
I'd be able, and quite willing, to attend all round matches if they were fixtured something like this:
Friday night @ Glenelg
Glenelg V Norwood
Saturday afternoon @ Adelaide Oval
Eagles V Central
Saturday night @ Adelaide Oval
Port V Sturt
Sunday afternoon @ Prospect
North V West
