Thanks for that JTC.
Goals wise his stats are poor for an attacking midfielder.
In Spain they are raving about his performances for Zaragoza this season though.
I have only seen televised games of him for River Plate and Valencia when he always impressed, but as the stats show he needs to score more goals.
Liverpool need MORE goalscorers other than Torres and Gerrard,,,,, West Ham 1 - L'pool 0....93min penalty

You beauty im forever blowing bubbles.
I have to say though i think Torres is slightly over-rated out of his 11 premier league goals 8 have come against teams in the bottom half of the premier league another 2 against Portsmouth who are on the verge of slipping out of the top 10. I understand you need to score against the smaller teams to win games but if Liverpool are to become a top 3 side they need a striker who can consistently score against the better teams. To me Torres is a small team bully. Look at tonight for example A.Ferdinand gave him an absolute bath at EVERY contest.
He will great improve though if they can a get another quality striker to make Torres the second striker.

Well lads, it's BEDLUM over here heading into the last few hours of the transfer window. Here's a few of the moves, will try to get the rest up tomorrow:

Probably the biggest deal - Liverpool have finalised the signing of Masherano permanently for 18.6m from that dodgy Argie businessman.
Everton land Anthony Gardner from Spurs on loan until the end of the season.
Gilberto heads to the Spurs after passing medical
Paul Stalteri joins Fulham on loan from Spurs until the end of season.
Black Cats seal Andy Reid move from Charlton for 4mil.
Clarets net young Gunner Mark Randall on loan - the 18 year old features in Ar5ena1's win over Blackburn in the Carling Cup
Jermain Defoe has had medical with Pompey and the deal will be signed shortly - I'm quite gutted about this one, but at the end of the day, I can't blame him for just wanting to play football. Still WHY DIDN'T WE SELL BENT!
Derby have signed Stubbs from Everton.
Alfonso Alves has received a work permit and completed his move to Boro - great signing for Boro, could help them avoid the drop with Mido.
Fulham has signed 36 year old Finn Litmanen - what are they doing?
In a deal that resulted in Defoe moving to Portsmouth, City have signed Benjani from Pompey. He will DOMINATE next to Elano.
All you Liverpool fans will be pumped to hear that Momo Sissoko is out, moving to Juventus. He claimed there was interest from Pompey and Spurs, but why on earth would we want an absolute bunny? Muppet.
Bolton capture Garry Cahill
Villa sign Wayne Routeledge from Spurs. Will be interesting to see how much time he gets on the park. I rate Routeledge, very clean skills.

That's it for tonight. Sorry if I haven't covered your club. My head is => trying to keep up!

Stubbs ? Any news would be good DA, couldn't find much.
I see Sterj didn't play in the draw against Man City...
Hopefully with the coin we now have that we signed these blokes for 18 monts etc to
get us back up to the EPL once we drop (that's if these blokes are any good...)

How often have you seen him play?

I can't agree with you on that one ... Liverpool at present are playing a BS style of football that does him no favours!

Sure he was out of touch with his ball control against the Hammers, but he still penetrated the defence a couple of times and when in form, that would have very likely resulted in 2 goals.

Think you'll find it's our lack of other strike options (or Rafa's failure to consistenly play the one who CAN score regularly) that allows Torres to get double teamed that doesn't help him ... Take Man U for example, trying to control Tevez and Rooney, and then having a marauding Ronaldo to top it off is near on impossible, Liverpool have no such luxury at the moment.

They need to replace Kuyt with another world class striker (I'd actually accept a 6 pack for him ... even VB  :( ), change their style, improve their midfield (Alonso out for mine) and shore up their defence ... Plenty of problems there, but I don't put Torres among them.

My only argument is out of Torres 11 Premier League Goals 8 have come against teams in the bottom half of the table.

2 against Portsmouth who are 9th and almost on the slide and 1 against Chelsea.

I think he needs to score more goals against the top half sides if Liverpool are to really contend the top 3 thats my only argument and i think statistics prove this.

Geez, 11 goals season to date is a bloody good return in any side. As is noted in the other thread, Ronaldo hasn't scored for Man U against Liverpool or Chelski and he's the BEST going around.

At this rate he'll finish with 20+ goals, which is a great return.

Every manager in the EPL would take Torres for 23mil, no doubt about it. I have to agree with CP, that he's been a victim of some questionable decisions by the manager, and some pretty poor service by those around him on the pitch.

He would be better with a class striker next to him I agree.
To say he;s overrated his rubbish.
Give crouch a decent run next to him FFS or play Babel as a striker....KUYT is finished come seasons end at Liverpool I would say.

Maschereno hasn't signed BTW despite reports.......a defensive midfielder for 17 mill........WAY TOO HIGH for my liking..for that price they could buy Quaresma or Daniel Alves who would give the team much more.

You're right Smithy. SkySports News jumped the gun last night. They had pics of Rafa parading Mascha about with his Reds shirt. Clearly one from the archive.

The upside for Liverpool fans is that as Mascha is a contracted Liverpool player (albeit on loan), his signing can be completed any time, regardless of transfer periods etc. It's a unique case apparently.

From what I have read there is nothing stopping him signing a pre-contract agreement with another club either.
I beleive the fee of 17.3 mill can be paid over 5 years which is 3.5 mill roughly each season which ain't too bad if true.
Still a lot of money for a player probably worth 10mill max.

Also, got it on good authority that Sissoko is hiding a vision problem stemming from his eye injury 18 months ago.
I wonder if JUVE did an eye test on him ?
Thanks for the 8.2 million though.
This apparently is why the poor bastard can't pass to a team mate and when he shoots for goal it ends up in the corner flag...

If that's true, I take back all the sledging I sent Momo's way. Suffering from short sightedness myself, I had no hope at footy when I didn't wear glasses or contacts, so can understand why he could spot a team mate, let alone the goal.

Still, contacts are pretty good in this day and age. Has Momo heard of an optometrist?
